I want to thank the Animal Specialty Group for saving my cat, Coco. Their service was attentive and thoughtful, and I was extremely satisfied! Coco is nearly four years old and has always been healthy; however, for some unknown reason, she began vomiting immediately after eating. In the past, this would happen occasionally—perhaps once or twice—and she would recover quickly. But this time, she went three consecutive days without being able to keep down any food or even water.
Consequently, I researched numerous emergency clinics and ultimately decided to take Coco to this facility for treatment. I had also checked online reviews for the clinic beforehand, which left me feeling somewhat apprehensive—worried that the costs would be exorbitant or that the doctors might order unnecessary tests. Thus, with a heart full of anxiety and trepidation, I brought Coco to the Animal Specialty Group. As it turned out, I had chosen the perfect place.
The receptionist at the front desk communicated with me very politely; noticing that my English wasn't strong, she used a translation app on her phone to facilitate our conversation. After completing the check-in process, she promptly notified a specialist to take Coco in for treatment. The doctor—a lovely young woman whose name I unfortunately didn't catch—conducted a preliminary consultation with us. She analyzed several potential causes for Coco's vomiting-after-eating symptoms, outlined the diagnostic tests that might be required, and—after obtaining our consent—proceeded with the examination. Later, a male staff member came to inform us of the estimated tests and associated costs; once I had settled the payment, I simply waited. After a total wait of about four hours, we were able to take Coco home. A member of the medical staff provided us with detailed instructions on how to care for Coco at home, including specific precautions to observe, and then we headed home.
The entire visit went very smoothly; the diagnostic tests and billing items were clearly itemized, with absolutely no signs of unnecessary or inflated charges. I was thoroughly satisfied with the experience, and I would like to extend a special thank you to the young lady at the front desk who assisted us. She was incredibly patient and never made us feel unwelcome or like a burden despite my language barrier—she is truly so sweet! Thank again 🙏🙏
Although the cost was a bit high, it was acceptable, as my Coco does not have pet insurance. Should my beloved pet ever require emergency medical attention again, I would certainly return here for treatment. My sincere thanks go out to every member of the medical staff here.🙏🙏🥰🥰

We took our dog to VCA ASG when she stopped eating and drinking and was confused and disoriented.
We explained that she’d had her first ever dose of simparica and the symptoms started right after taking that medication.
I’d done some research and learned that the symptoms were a known side-effect of Solana, the active ingredient in simparica.
Dr. Manucci dismissed that information and instead diagnosed a brain tumor and recommended a neurological consult and an MRI. We did not take that recommendation. At that point the doctor was done with us. I asked one of the assistants to ask Dr. Manucci to call Zoetis, the manufacturer of simparica, and gave her the help line number. I could hear the doctor’s response to the request, “I can’t spend all day on the phone” and she never did speak with them. So I called the help line and asked them to call VCA ASG and still Dr. Manucci would not speak with them. Another staff vet did. When she calked me to let me know she’d had a conversation with Zoetis her message to me was that everything would be inconclusive until we agreed to the neurologist consultation and an MRI (estimated cost $6,000). She didn’t offer that she’d confirmed that they were doing all that Zoetis recommended in this situation, so I asked her directly. She fumbled but said of course they were.
Our dog spent 5 days at VCA ASG (total cost $11,000). When we decided to take her home they recommended a quality of life consult. They also reminded us yet again that we’d refused the MRI recommendation “for financial reasons.”Our dog is doing fine now. Three hours after getting her home she started eating and drinking on her own. It had been about a week since she ingested the simparica and she’d flushed out enough of it to feel and act normal again.
We are thrilled at how well she’d doing, and also absolutely certain we will never take her to VCA ASG again.
