  I have paid this practice over 3k in the last 4 months to take care of my dog. I signed up for the Care Club membership and am locked into it for a year at $58.99 a month. I have been trying to get my dog in to see the vet for over a month. They changed the appointment twice and text me this morning at 1130 to see if I can come in at 3. I rearranged my whole day to bring my dog in and got there at 305 only to be told the vet can no longer see her. The front desk staff talk over you and have no respect for privacy. They said the confirmation texts come with a warning that there is no grace period, but that is just not true. I attached the confirmation text below. It just seems so thoughtless. I can't change vets because I am locked into the care club that doesn't even get me in to see the vet within a month.

  Our 14-year-old cat needs medicine that cannot be stopped abruptly. However, the vet stopped providing us the prescription saying they need "blood test results" to see if it is safe to keep prescribing additional medicine. Given that the medicine cannot be stopped, it feels like a very convenient excuse to get the tests done. It did not feel good. But so far understandable. However, when we got to the vet office, they performes unnecessary items which was not consulted with the owner, including two other vaccinations like rabies and FVRCP, which usually are asked for young outdoor cats. Our cat is a 14-year-old completely indoor cat, why would she need vaccinations? They didn't even consider the side effects she might have, given her old age. In accordance with the American Animal Hospital Association, the vet should have performed risk-benefit assessment on the senior cats older than 10 years old and they clearly did not. I seriously question their professionalism. They gave her the vaccinations without performing any risk assessment and providing explanation to us and now our poor cat is suffering from severe side effects of vaccinations, not eating, hiding for almost three days now. And when call the vet, they want extra $188 for emergency "consultation". At this point, what consultation would help the situation? Given all my experiences with them, they just seek for money and does not consider the animal's wellbeing genuinely. I would not trust this vet with my beloved pets.

  Dr. Coates has been the best doctor I have ever came across, not only knowledgeable but she shows deep empathy for your pets which also shows in the high quality of her work. If you want to ensure your pets get the best life they can possibly live I recommend coming in and getting an exam asap!

  Extremely disappointing experience. My impression was that the main goal here is to charge as much as possible rather than actually help pets. I paid a significant amount and received very little value in return. The staff did not seem knowledgeable, the recommendations were unhelpful, and I left with less confidence than when I arrived. Every interaction felt focused on additional charges rather than solving the problem. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this clinic and will not be returning.

  Just found my new vet for my Baci! I received a coupon for an exam and parasite prevention for being a new patient. Booking the appointment was simple, and I received lots of reminders. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly for our appointment. I disclosed to reception that I have been dealing with financial recovery, and I would need to break up his wellness plan in a few visits. They were extremely understanding and reassured me that there is no pressure to do everything at once. This felt really good to hear and no one made me feel shame for my honesty. I appreciate their support as they can tell I am making an effort to take care of my dog’s health. We get called back, and we immediately felt welcomed! There was a white board with my pet’s name and his doctor. His doctor, Dr. Ortiz, was phenomenal! Thorough, caring, and patient! Amber was our tech and she was equally wonderful. Baci felt safe with the staff, and that made the whole experience seamless. We got the ball rolling on Baci’s vaccines and prevention plans. Definitely will be back and recommend VCA Burbank.
