Do not go to this Cricket outlet if you want an honest customer service experience. I thought all Cricket stores were the same, but some are franchises owned by individuals, so perhaps the policies are different from store to store.
On Monday, January 13, 2020, I visited the store at 8824 Geyer Springs Road and talked with a rep about their promo for $300+ that included the first month's payment, the activation fee, and an iPhone 7. Because they didn't offer financing I decided to shop around.
The Wednesday after (1-15-20), I returned to the store to get the promo. A different woman employee told me that the promo was over, that they were out of iPhone 7's, and that an AT&T customer was not eligible for the promo because AT&T owned Cricket. Once again, I left but returned later to switch to the $40 a month plan with the phone I had.
At the checkout, she and another employee began talking in Spanish to one another. I do not speak or understand Spanish, so I regarded their exchange as rude because I had no idea what they were saying. The employee then told me that the computer/cash register would not allow her to access the $40 plan, so I chose the $50. I later called the company and got the $40 plan I wanted.
The woman employee outright lied to me, from start to finish. I don't know if she makes commission and was trying to bump up her fee or if she targeted me because she thought I was an older woman with money to spare, which is not true. I am on a fixed income. Either way, she is dishonest. A customer should not have to wonder if an employee is being deceitful.
I wanted to support my neighborhood store. I never dreamed that an employee at a nationally known company would be dishonest. There are many Cricket outlets. I would think twice about entering this one.
