Last Monday, I went to this Cricket store to switch from AT&T and activate two new lines, requesting the $75 plan for both. I asked the representative, named Noel, three times if it was really that plan, and he confirmed it every time, so I agreed to the contract with confidence.
When it was time to pay, I was told the total was $189, without a clear explanation as to why. Right there, I asked for the receipt to see what I was being charged for, but Noel told me it would be sent by text message and did not provide it in person. When I checked the message, it only showed the total amount, with no breakdown of the charges.
The next day, after checking the Cricket app, I realized they had put me on the more expensive $90 plan, and also added insurance for each line that I never requested and was never told about. That is why the charge ended up being so high.
I went back to the store and Noel acknowledged his mistake and told me I would receive a $60 credit for the extra charges to use toward my next bill since they could not issue a refund. However, when I checked the app later, only $24 appeared as a credit, and to this day that is still the amount showing.
In summary, the experience was very frustrating. Noel’s customer service left a lot to be desired, and there was a clear lack of professionalism and transparency. For now, I will stay with Cricket, but I would not recommend it.
