  I am extremely upset and disturbed by the treatment my dog received at VCA Lake Jackson, and I feel obligated to warn others. I brought my husky in because he was clearly in distress. He was crying and whimpering, showing obvious signs of ear pain, and had red, infected spots with a strong odor coming from his ears. This was not a routine visit. My dog was visibly uncomfortable and needed medical attention. Instead of examining him or taking my concerns seriously, the veterinarian refused to properly check my dog at all and explicitly stated that he was not going to look at him and was not going to stress himself out. I was essentially dismissed. The most shocking and unprofessional part of this visit was being told, without examination, without diagnostics, without treatment, that my dog should be “sent to Alaska.” This comment was not only absurd but cruel, dismissive, and completely inappropriate given the situation. They sent my dog home without providing any care, any treatment, or any explanation for his condition. No ear exam, no cleaning, no medication, no pain management, nothing. I left with a dog still in pain and the overwhelming feeling that his suffering was treated as an inconvenience rather than a medical concern. This level of negligence and lack of compassion is unacceptable in any veterinary practice. When pet owners seek help, especially for an animal in visible pain, they deserve professionalism, empathy, and basic medical evaluation. What I experienced was the opposite. I strongly question how a clinic that refuses to examine an animal in obvious distress can continue to operate under the expectation of providing quality veterinary care. My trust was completely broken, and I would never recommend this location to anyone who actually cares about their pet’s well-being.
