When I was trained as a grocery store sacker, I was taught that the most important person in the store is the first person the customer interacts with, and the last person the customer interacts with. Those interactions are going to shape the customer's opinion of the business, for better or worse. Someone at VCA needs to train their receptionists in this concept. It's not that they're overtly rude -- they don't insult you like the soup guy on Seinfeld -- but they're also not at all friendly. They come across as brusk and unconcerned. After such an interaction this morning, I called another nearby vet recommended in another review. They, by contrast, were warm and friendly, and spoke to me as if they appreciated me calling them. Which vet do you think I'm going to trust my pet with?

Started using this vet in 2023 for boarding and grooming and the past year I have noticed my dog sounds hoarse, acts tired, and extremely thirsty when she comes home. they started complaining about how she acts during grooming out of the blue so they want me to pay for an exam and prescription for trazadone so she can be sedated while they groom her. She hasn’t given any other place issues. She isn’t aggressive. When my husband picked her up last time the girls behind the counter started snickering when he said he was there to pick her up. I called to see what was going on and no one had answers. I think they were abusing my dog so we won’t be back. If that wasn’t the case they sure didn’t call me back to give an explanation.

We’ve had a horrible experience with VCA Forney. For the past five months, we’ve been taking our dog there for a persistent ear infection, and I have never felt more disappointed with a veterinary clinic in my life. After spending over $1,000, our dog’s ear is still not healed. During our most recent visit, they told us we now need to spend another $300 for a culture test — something that should have been done several visits ago. It feels like they’re more interested in charging for repeated visits and tests than actually resolving the problem. This place will drain your wallet with no real results. They take no accountability for their lack of progress, and our poor dog continues to suffer. Save your money and go elsewhere. We truly regret trusting VCA Forney with our pet’s care.

Update: one more disappointment for this vet. I received this today about my dogs heartworm medicine. We have been getting it from Chewys for years with the vet agreement like any other vet. Now vca will not let you get your pet medicine from anyone but them. THEY ARE A TERRIBLE VET AND ONLY CARE ABOUT THE MONEY! Starting September 5, all prescriptions will be filled through our hospital or VCA Home Delivery. Our hospital will no longer verify prescriptions submitted by outside or online pharmacies—with the exception of compounding pharmacies for specific formulations. What a complete disappointment this vet has turned out to be after 12 years I have taking my dog there. He has been on the plan the entire 12 years he has been going there. When I took him today for the one shot he was due for and his annual checkup they informed me that the plan had been canceled because the payment did not go through. No one reached out to me by phone or by email to inform me that there was an issue. When I showed up today they wanted to charge me $263 for one shot and an annual checkup. I just got up and walked out. This place has truly gone down since Dr Chambless left. As customer service and Pet Care declines the prices continue to rise. Be advised and take your pet somewhere else.
