PLEASE READ!!! I brought our dog, Leeroy, to VCA Bent Tree twice, where he was seen both times by Dr. Lorena Gutierrez (March 6 and 9), before final visit with a different provider. From the beginning, Leeroy had serious symptoms, including lethargy, loss of appetite, and increased thirst and urination. His initial bloodwork showed significant abnormalities and these findings indicated a serious kidney-related issue and required a thorough diagnostic workup. A kidney infection was suspected, then confirmed. However, a urine culture was NEVER performed at EITHER visit. A urine culture is not the same as a urinalysis; it is the test used to confirm which specific infection is present and to determine which specific antibiotic will actually be effective. INSTEAD, Leeroy was prescribed a broad-spectrum antibiotic without a culture to guide treatment. Because of this, his condition rapidly decline with great pain and suffering for him. By the time we learned independently that a urine culture is a STANDARD STEP in diagnosing and properly treating suspected kidney infections, Leeroy’s condition had significantly worsened. He ultimately deteriorated to the point where we had to make the decision to end his life. This is not a matter of hindsight or minor differences in approach. The sequence is straightforward: a serious kidney issue was identified through symptoms and lab abnormalities, infection was suspected then confirmed, but the one test used to confirm the infection and guide treatment was never performed ACROSS TWO VISITS. Treatment was given without that information, and there was no improvement. That omission left us without key information at a time when it mattered most. Pet owners rely on veterinary providers to complete the full diagnostic process when serious conditions are being considered. In situations like this, where kidney infection is on the table and bloodwork already shows significant abnormalities, omitting a urine culture removes the ability to accurately diagnose and appropriately treat the condition. major kidney-related abnormalities, owners should not have to discover on their own that a urine culture was never done. In my case, that delay had devastating consequences. Based on this experience, I would strongly urge others to not let their animals be treated by Lorena Gutierrez. We received a sincere apologies from other staff, even got our money back, and were promised our other animals would not be treated by this vet (we have four more). It is needless to say that NONE of that matters. Death is so final and Leeroy’s could’ve been prevented. Him and our family were failed by an expert we trusted with our boy’s life. Leeroy was a rescue dog saved from abuse situation. He deserved better than walking out of the clinic without proper help from professionals, twice, and ultimately us walking out without him. I am attaching his blood results so you can see it for yourself.

Came here in hopes of saving my cat. Couldn't save him in time. The one star review is for this situation. I brought my cat in who is so extremely weak he could barely hold himself up and walk around. Basically skin and bones. They charged us all this extra unnecessary things to have done to him only to tell us that he has to be put down. Not only that.. but lied to us and said the cat bit someone. And now his head was going to have to be sawed off and sent to a lab. THE VET SAID THIS TO US while my girlfriend was bawling her eyes out. WHO SAYS SOMRHING LIKE THAT TO A PERSON THAT IS GRIEVING!??! You're telling me a cat who could barely hold himself up, bit an employee?? After everything was done we were offered ZERO compensation. ZERO help. And sat there and watched us desperately make phone calls to have money loaned to us so we could save him.... We ended up spending almost $1000 just for them to end up putting my cat down. And then not being able to even leave with him. This experience has made it difficult for us to trust any other veterinarian and take our animals in. I cant begin to express how scammed we feel by them. Watching us sitting there scrambling calling people begging people to help us out with some money so we can save our cat....Feeding off of people who are desperate and love their animals. Charged us to bring him in. Charged us to run unnecessary tests. Charged us to put him down. Wouldn't give him back to us. And then charged us for the cremation. I always thought lawyers were crooks...no...it's veterinarians. Thanks for all the grief, and then sucking every cent out of our pocket that we didn't have to begin with.

they are so lovely and inviting! i took my cat Butters for a health exam, which went great. as soon as i got home from that appointment i had to immediately call make another for my other cat, Lillie, who had a wound on her leg she had inflicted while i was gone. fully expecting to come see them the next day, they said to just come back in 10 minutes! i was able to get both of them seen the first day i had used them as my pets PCV.
