Dr. Snell and Dr. Martin have truly done an incredible job caring for our wonderful girl, Cali. A few months ago, she was diagnosed with HCS and copper hepatitis and not long after, we learned she had also developed diabetes. We are now under their care and are praying and hoping for the very best. There are no two doctors or care team we would trust more with Cali than them. They came highly recommended, and they have absolutely lived up to that reputation. Hands down, they have been complete rockstars in handling such a serious and complex situation. Please pray for Cali and pray for us as we continue this journey. đź’›

A BIG thank you to Dr. Lopez and the team at Dallas Specialty Hospital. She saw my cat, Milo, for a GI lymphoma consultation and treatment plan, and the entire experience was exceptional. Dr. Lopez was incredibly thorough, warm, and friendly, and we never once felt rushed. She took the time to answer every question with patience and clarity, which brought us so much comfort. The hospital itself is new, beautiful, and impeccably clean, which adds to the sense of professionalism and care. Milo even left with a free cat toy that absolutely made his day! I’m truly grateful to have Dr. Lopez and Dallas Specialty Hospital on Milo’s care team as he enters his senior years. Their compassion and expertise mean the world to us. Highly recommend!

Feline Tritrichomonas patients, stay away! I was referred here by my normal vet because Tritrichomonas was introduced to my multi-cat household by a kitten, and I was looking for an expert's advice. I am a veterinary parasitologist but specialize in helminths, not protozoans like Tritrichomonas. I did not find that help here, as it was a complete waste of a visit, $294, and fasting my symptomatic cat for 12 hours. The technician immediately told me the cat needed an ultrasound, when I was just there for consultation on how to deal with this specific parasite in a multi-cat household after positive PCR tests for it. Ultrasound does not identify the parasite. When I pushed to speak with the actual vet, she had far less information than I gleaned from a 2-hour literature review regarding this parasite, and sent me home with a printout from Capcvet.org, with the first half focusing on the parasite in dogs. I asked her about Secnidazole, a front-line Tritrichomonas therapeutic which is currently being used in Europe (where this parasite originated), and she had not heard of it. I also requested a fecal loop sample or other manual sample to be taken per ABCD recommendations for trophozoite identification, and was told they could not do this without totally sedating the cat. Treating this parasite is difficult enough, but I expected actual support from a specialist. The only positive exchange of information in this entire visit was me informing the veterinarian where she could find the medication for Tritrichomonas. So, I hope that helps some of your patients!

Dr. Rifkin gave me a $15,000 care plan for my dog with bladder stones. Went and got a second opinion, $3,500 out the door and my dog is thriving. Stay away from this place and Dr. Rifkin. Corporate greed and she’s part of it.

I had a disappointing and upsetting experience with the internal medicine vet and her team while my dog was being treated here. I would not recommend this vet hospital based on my experience. The only positive aspect was that the internal medicine vet correctly diagnosed my dog with a serious fungal infection (histoplasmosis) that was causing her GI issues. However, after starting her on antifungal medication and then doubling the dosage after 2 weeks, my 2 yr old dog developed severe vasculitis (lesions). These lesions were all over her body including her paws which made even walking very painful for her. When I brought up my concerns during our vet appointment, the vet told me that the anti fungal medication was NOT the cause and told me try Duoxo shampoo on my dog — which I had already been using on her since she was a puppy. The vet provided no clear guidance on how to proceed or what to do about the horrible lesions. I ended up taking my dog to a vet dermatologist who tested the lesions and it turned out they WERE caused by the high dose of the anti fungal medicine and this type of reaction occurs in 5-10% of dogs receiving high doses of this medicine. If 1 out of 10 dogs can have this severe reaction it seems like something an internal vet specialist should be aware of or at least look into and research before dismissing. I also easily found this side effect myself by doing a quick Google search, which is why I directly asked about this at our prior VCA appointment. My dog was put on medicine for the vasculitis by the vet dermatologist. Additionally the receptionists were consistently rude/unhelpful whenever I called with questions and we waited more than 40 minutes in the lobby for our last appointment. As just one example, I called to ask if the vet had called in my dog’s medicine to CVS because CVS still hadn’t received it. The receptionist told me “our pharmacist has gone home for the day”. I asked “ok well do you know if the prescription was sent in by the vet before she left? I thought it was the vet who called in the prescriptions, not a pharmacist?” Receptionist: “Again, our pharmacist has left for the day”. Since transferring my dog to a different vet specialist who put her on a different anti fungal medication, she has improved significantly.
