I am a new customer to Cricket. Once I recorded my phone I was told it was ok to come in for set up. I walk in and wait for service. All of the employees and customers are speaking Spanish, which is fine. After getting help I am waiting for downloads and I ask if I need the slip of paper that came with my phone and had Cricket information on it. The lady in this picture told me no but then turned to another lady in a black shirt and gold necklaces, who I later found was a manager, and said something that ended with “tonto lo que dice.” I caught that she was saying something like “everything he says is stupid”, and repeated the phrase out loud to let her know I heard her. She pretended not to hear me. I said it again. I turned to the manager and asked “doesn’t ‘tonto’ mean stupid?” “Oh no” she said, stupid is..is..” as she thought of another word for stupid, “estupida.”
“I’m pretty sure tonto means stupid”
“No, stupid is estupida,” she said.
The first lady that called me stupid never looked at me or acknowledged me again. I went home thinking I could finish the process at home but then at home I got an error message and had to return to the store.
I walked in “I don’t mean to ask a STUPID question, but I’m new to your service and getting this error message.” A lady who was there from another store gave me the number I need to call to solve the problem and was very nice. I told her about being called stupid by her coworker who was standing there ignoring me. She said she wasn’t here. I asked for a manager and found the lady who tried to deny it earlier was the manager. She was nice, but tried to deny it and brush it off at the time. Note that she didn’t try to tell me what was actually said, which would be the natural and simple reaction to such a situation if you are telling the truth. Think about it- if someone misunderstands what you say, you tell them what you actually said. No one who was present offered that explanation because they knew it was not a misunderstanding.
I asked the lady to just apologize to me. She ignored me. I heard her speaking English so I know it wasn’t because she didn’t understand me. I asked the lady who helped me what her name was and she said people don’t have to give their names if they don’t want to. So I took her pic. There was no reason for her to be so rude. And the nerve to not even apologize when you get caught??? This is my first impression of this company.
