Over the course of my career, I have owned and operated a number of retail businesses as well as professional service organizations. I know exceptional customer service when I see it — and I witnessed it firsthand at this Verizon location on 5th Street in Austin.
Saral Ortega is, without question, one of the finest customer service professionals I have encountered in years. In a world where genuine care for the customer has become increasingly rare, she stands apart completely.
When I arrived, she was already working with a Hispanic couple, seamlessly conducting the entire conversation in Spanish with the same warmth, patience, and professionalism she would bring to anyone. Her bilingual abilities are not just a skill — they are a gift she uses to make every customer feel seen and valued.
When it came time to assist me, there were several technical challenges in getting my account set up. I am handicapped, and the process required considerable patience on her part. She never once made me feel like a burden. She was kind, thorough, and completely focused on getting it right.
If I had an open position in my organization today, I would make every effort to bring Saral onto my team. That is the highest compliment I know how to give.
Verizon is fortunate to have her. She deserves every recognition and benefit this company can offer. I will be returning to transfer the remainder of my AT&T account to her care in the coming weeks — and I cannot wait.

Nick was absolutely phenomenal. From the moment my fiancée and I walked into the Verizon store, he was friendly, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. Upgrading phones can easily feel overwhelming, but Nick took the time to walk us through every option, answered all of our questions clearly, and made sure we ended up with the best phones and plans for our needs—without any pressure or upselling.
What really stood out was how seamless he made the entire process. He handled everything efficiently, explained each step, and made sure both phones were fully set up and ready to go before we left. You could tell he genuinely cared about making sure we were happy and confident with our decisions.
If you’re going to this Verizon location, do yourself a favor and ask for Nick. He turned what could’ve been a stressful errand into an easy and genuinely great experience. Thanks again, Nick!
