Dr. Travis is a very disorganized and unreliable vet, I would not recommend her for any serious, ongoing care. My dog was diagnosed with diabetes this year and the care has been all over the place from the beginning. I was told my dog would need a blood-sugar monitor, that had a 2-week span in which Dr. Travis would be monitoring daily. 1 week into the readings, I call with an issue regarding the monitor, and am told Dr. Travis is out of town and won’t be back for the next 8 days, and no one else had access to the monitor’s reporting. The helpful staff ended up being able to gain access to the reports, but I was left wondering why Dr. Travis would not suggest instead putting the monitor on when she returned, or at least grant access to another staff member before departing. Throughout the course of months, their record keeping of his insulin dosages as been consistently inaccurate. Including them making recommendations based on inaccurate records which would have been potentially dangerous if I has not questioned it. Finally, this week they requested a urinalysis which I dropped off Monday. I did not hear anything all week, and called Friday to inquire. I was told that 1 part of the test showed “something” but the receptionist could not tell the details, and the 2nd part of the test was not complete. I kindly asked if Dr. Travis could call me to explain what “something” means, as that’s an unsettling thing to hear. The day came and went, no call. And now Dr. Travis is gone for the weekend. I will be switching vets once the pricy urinalysis is complete. Feeling very let down.

Its very hard to review accurately. I have been using Tanglewood for years and they have been wonderful. They have helped us through pets cancer, seizures and much more. They are compassionate and kind. I have never han any issues. That is why we stayed when they became VCA and through each price increase. Today however I had a disappointing experience scheduling 3 of my girls for treatments and testing. They were able to work with me before to help me get the care we needed but also help with the costs. I was told that couldn't happen and it would need to be approved by the doctor. I asked if we could ask the doctor and the scheduler said, well, the doctor will say no. She wasn't rude per se, but she was not helpful or empathetic. It left me angry and sad at the state of the clinic I once loved and recommended to all my animal loving friends. I know the staff don't set the prices and they have standards and practices, that I am ok about following but they can be a bit more understanding and consistent. I spoke to the clinic manager and she was nice and listened but I can't help but feel we are now just a number. It's time we find a private clinic.

Dr Robben is a gem. She’s the best vet I’ve ever had- she takes her time, she’s thorough, she communicates well, you can tell she genuinely cares. We went to vca Tanglewood bc we lived really close by. We’ve moved further away but I will continue to bring my pets to Dr Robben.

Clean facility, great communication. The staff listen and ensure you're a part of your pet's care by making an estimate for services and allowing you the ability to choose what to do. They're a little higher on the price side of things ( corporate, right?) But they're worth it! Carol is a great hospital manager!

How do we get so lucky to live 3 minutes away from the best vet in all of Austin? 🫶
