My kid had an issue with his iPhone charging port. I was about to pay for protection with my cell phone provider. I figured I would see if they could replace it in the store first. I had originally wanted to go to the Apple Store, but was able to immediately get an appointment with the Geek Squad. I roll up at my appointment time and there are two young kids working the desk. Apparently it takes two guys to work on a MacBook Pro as I sat there for 10 minutes waiting for the other kid to check me in. He finally realizes that we are waiting for him and did not even ask for my appointment time. I tell him the issue and he takes the phone to the back. He comes back 10 minutes later and says, "The charging port is bent and needs to be replaced." Ok, no problem. How much would that cost? He first tells me, "You need a new phone." I know that is a bold faced lie because I had my charging port replaced on my phone and it was quick, easy and painless. He then tells me it is going to be $400. I also know that is a lie because it can cost anywhere between $75 and $150 for the repair. (The part cost $17. Most of the cost is the labor.) I tell him what he is telling is a bold faced lie because I had previously worked for Apple and was very familiar with the repair process. In fact, I had broken the back glass and my screen on an iPhone I had and it was not even $400 to replace both. I tell him thanks but no thanks and walked out.
I ended up going to a place in New Braunfels that had quoted me $150 to fix if I needed too fix it. The tech ended up saying there was something stuck in the charging port. He ended up cleaning it out and fixed it for free.
Do not bother wasting your time at this place. You are only going to leave frustrated and pay way more than you need to for a repair. Plus, the young guys working the desk really need to learn some professionalism.

So apparently, “Geek Squad” means “a squad of… absolutely nobody.” I had a 4 PM Friday appointment to get my phone fixed, but when I showed up—surprise! No technician. Just me, my broken phone, and the faint sound of my free time being wasted.
Why even let me make an appointment if there’s no one around to actually keep it? That’s like making a dinner reservation at a restaurant and showing up to find the chef on vacation.
To recap: I left with the same broken phone I walked in with, but now with a fresh crack in my patience. If you’re looking for an exciting adventure in scheduling futility, 10/10 would recommend. If you’re actually trying to fix your phone… good luck

Purchased an OLED TV from someone through Facebook around May 21' who originally purchased it from best buy in Nov 2020. Also purchased from him the Geek Squad plan after confirming with best buy that it was transferable. Geek squad sent an email 2 days later confirming me as the current owner of the plan. Few months down the road I noticed the black color was distorted and checked with Geek Squad to which they said they will repair it not replace. Not liking the idea of repair I decided to get a new one from another brand and asked them to cancel the protection plan to which they said they'll issue a refund of 173.06. Since the plan was transferred to me (being the current owner of the protection plan) they said they'll have to issue a check (instead to original payment/owner) and would take a bit longer to which I was totally fine. A month later not receiving anything yet I checked back with them and they said they sent to the original owner. We went back and forth & they confirmed that their notes says to be a refund check but the system accidentally issued to the original owner. After apologizing their mistake they transferred me to the supervisor to find a solution. Instead of finding a solution she clearly said they can't do anything as they issued to the wrong owner and just didn't care at all. I cannot say that enough. She had no empathy or understanding. She sounded like do whatever you want and gave me her employee id and name. I am happy to give those details if needed.
And honestly its not just about 173 bucks but more about the cheap way best buy has treated a customer. Either they should've been clear in the first place that a check cannot be processed. And secondly, should not have allowed to transfer the ownership in this case. Very dissappointed with their behavior. Tried to speak with chat rep and they spoke the same tone. Tried calling them again and the guy "Luis" put me on a 45 min hold and disconnected. Not sure what to do at this point and writing this review here.
