My kid had an issue with his iPhone charging port. I was about to pay for protection with my cell phone provider. I figured I would see if they could replace it in the store first. I had originally wanted to go to the Apple Store, but was able to immediately get an appointment with the Geek Squad. I roll up at my appointment time and there are two young kids working the desk. Apparently it takes two guys to work on a MacBook Pro as I sat there for 10 minutes waiting for the other kid to check me in. He finally realizes that we are waiting for him and did not even ask for my appointment time. I tell him the issue and he takes the phone to the back. He comes back 10 minutes later and says, "The charging port is bent and needs to be replaced." Ok, no problem. How much would that cost? He first tells me, "You need a new phone." I know that is a bold faced lie because I had my charging port replaced on my phone and it was quick, easy and painless. He then tells me it is going to be $400. I also know that is a lie because it can cost anywhere between $75 and $150 for the repair. (The part cost $17. Most of the cost is the labor.) I tell him what he is telling is a bold faced lie because I had previously worked for Apple and was very familiar with the repair process. In fact, I had broken the back glass and my screen on an iPhone I had and it was not even $400 to replace both. I tell him thanks but no thanks and walked out. I ended up going to a place in New Braunfels that had quoted me $150 to fix if I needed too fix it. The tech ended up saying there was something stuck in the charging port. He ended up cleaning it out and fixed it for free. Do not bother wasting your time at this place. You are only going to leave frustrated and pay way more than you need to for a repair. Plus, the young guys working the desk really need to learn some professionalism.

So apparently, “Geek Squad” means “a squad of… absolutely nobody.” I had a 4 PM Friday appointment to get my phone fixed, but when I showed up—surprise! No technician. Just me, my broken phone, and the faint sound of my free time being wasted. Why even let me make an appointment if there’s no one around to actually keep it? That’s like making a dinner reservation at a restaurant and showing up to find the chef on vacation. To recap: I left with the same broken phone I walked in with, but now with a fresh crack in my patience. If you’re looking for an exciting adventure in scheduling futility, 10/10 would recommend. If you’re actually trying to fix your phone… good luck

Horrible service. By far the worst ever in device repair. Brought in MacBook 1/20. Paperwork was done wrong so we were contacted 1/24, we came 1/28 to sign papers and wrap up payment which was “the final process they were waiting”. I come 2/19 to find out that my laptop is sitting in the back collecting dust. It was never sent out, now I have to reissue everything. Thanks a lot Geeksquad. Make sure to do your job right.
