This review is a culmination of years of disgust with this location. Today was the winner though...and its about $9.
For reference, I have the Best Buy Membership and the Credit Card. I did a fair but of impulse buying with Best Buy, and while I don't spend 10k a year anymore, my spend there is not tiny.
Lets first talk about this specific Best Buy store. If you have been to the Harbison location, or the Florence location, this store isn't those locations. This location is cluttered, its shelves are empty. Honestly its similar to the Best Buy outlet up in Charlotte.
But wait, let's get to the employees. I know finding people that want to work is hard in this market, especially in retail, but its the depth of disgust that these employees have for customers that is truly amazing. I don't need to be carried in on someone's shoulders, but when I show up for an online pickup, don't make me feel like i'm interrupting your life work. Since just after Covid ended, the quality of the employees at this store hit the ocean bottom and just stayed there.
That's just the feeling overall that I've had for the last few years. I have driven 30 extra minutes to go to other locations, but since this one is closer, I kept going for convenience.
Today was a winner though. I found an open box 32" TV on the app (because everything is on the app) for $66.81. I wasn't sure if the TV was what I needed for my project, so I actually drove to the store with a return I needed to do anyway, and went in. When I walked in with the return, the person at the front desk was critically busy scrolling through TikTok, and when I asked if they needed to mark it for a return before I went to the counter, seemed annoyed that I bothered their social media scrolling. Return went fine, no issues.
With my child in tow, I went to look at the TV. F20 Insignia 32" Fire TV. New on sale for $79.99. Since I figured my project may result in this thing getting destroyed, I figured I would save a few bucks. Found the only one on the floor that matched the BEST BUY APP open-box, took it to the front to ring up.
The representative, rang it up and told me it was $75.99. I showed him the app, and then the price. His response "Why didn't you order it online?" I explained my purpose and he goes: "Well, its not that price now, so either order it online and wait or...I don't know man."
Outstanding. Just outstanding. Purchased a lego figurine for my kid and headed out the door. Happened to be a black shirt manager by the door, and I explained the situation. His answer: "Its open box." Yea, I know man, that's why I'm here. He just shrugged and said "Nothing I can do."
For those that are wondering, this interaction right there is why this store absolutely sucks. Because the management cares as little as the employees.
So here is the deal: I am a big fan of Best Buy. I want there to be stores like Best Buy, where people can go and look at and touch things. I want Best Buy to be successful, and for people to buy things there and not Amazon. But this store needs to be shut down completely. This store is why people shop online. This is me, complaining into the wind because there is no way a regional or district manager can walk through that location and not be VERY aware of just how terrible it is.
