- TYTiffany Y.Dec 18, 20255.0I took one of my cats to VCA Wexford Animal Hospital two times, once with Dr. Santabene for a new-patient exam and then with a vet tech for blood tests. The veterinarian seemed to possess more knowledge about kidney disease than did other veterinarians at other hospitals. She knew that kidney-diseased cats often need daily fluids, long courses of antibiotics for urinary-tract infections, and kidney-friendly foods. The veterinarian communicated the test results and recommended treatments in a polite and thorough manner. I was going to keep my cat in this VCA's pet hotel while I was on vacation, but her symptoms got worse, so I had her euthanized elsewhere. Dr. Santabene mailed a handwritten sympathy card that was empathetic. I recommend this hospital to people who have pets who have medical diagnoses.

Not only did he quickly assess the underlying problem that had created an uncharacteristic response from our cat in a stressful situation but he reasonably helped us understand why such a response would have occurred given all the factors. He spent time calmly reviewing the situation that had occurred and thoroughly explained that an extreme decision on our part was not the only solution. He calmed us down, offered to talk with other family members and reassured us that time and family discussion would be beneficial. It was exactly the type of expert counsel that we needed to hear in order to prevent a decision based on haste and highly charged emotions. Thank you, Dr Vaughn. You eased our anxiety and gave us peace of mind as well as options. We are so very grateful.
