They missed an obvious anal gland abscess on the initial exam, misdiagnosed it as a knee issue, and then charged me for unnecessary bloodwork before finally discovering the very clear physical problem that made all of that testing irrelevant. I paid $1,200 for treatment, and now, just five days later, my dog is showing the same symptoms as before. They want to charge another $250 just to walk in the door, plus at least $400 for X-rays. This should be handled as a continuation of the original treatment, not billed like a new case. I’m taking him to Penn. Yes, they charge more, but they also don’t miss basic issues like an anal gland abscess and then refuse to acknowledge it.

Be prepared to get cancelled on day of or day before. We had scheduled an appointment for our cat months ago due for a checkup and a minor issue with her eye, got cancelled last minute, was forced to reschedule months out. They have just cancelled again last minute and have no openings until next year, with no regard for our cat whose issue is now becoming more serious. They refuse to be lenient and help us get in earlier, even though they cancelled on us twice. This place cares more about your money than your pet and should be ashamed to call itself an animal hospital, specifically for their outrageous prices and shitty service.

For those in need of 24 Emergency Vets, I’m adding to the string of reviews that VCA Old Marple does not have a Dr 24 hours. We called around 4 am on September 13 for an end of life situation and were told there was no Dr because they were short staffed. Philadelphia Animal & Specialty Care (PASE) was open and ready for us when we got there (and were so kind on a terrible day). After sending a message on the app requesting they update her record and thanking them for nearly 17 years of care, they deleted her record. If that was the only option, an explanation of such would have been cool so I could have let them know when I was ready for full deletion. I replied stating that and that I only was asking for an update so that I wouldn’t get refills, reminders, and appointment cards. I got zero response or acknowledgment to either message. Like others have said, I was a customer but no longer am. No need for a response at this point. Just want others to know what they are in for before choosing a life long vet or one for an emergency.
