He went to the store on his own after receiving promotional emails about upgrading his phone — so some responsibility is on him for not checking first. However, what happened afterward was unacceptable. He was sold a smartphone that could not be activated on his current talk/text plan, something I later confirmed directly with a Verizon corporate store. Despite this, the staff here continued insisting it would work for him. When he returned to simply return the unusable phone, the representative kept him there for hours, even though he is an elderly diabetic who needed to leave and eat. He made it clear that he is on a fixed income and did not want or need a data plan that would cost almost three times what he currently pays, yet the situation was dragged out unnecessarily. It got so bad that his daughter and I had to drive to the store to get him out of the situation, just to finally end this horrible transaction. The delay caused him to miss a meal, and his elderly wife had to drive home in the dark because the return process was not handled promptly. I also want to point out that this store is not a Verizon corporate location. It is an authorized retailer, which looks like a Verizon store but operates under different policies and sales practices. This distinction matters — and in this case, it contributed to the problem. I highly recommend that customers deal directly with a Verizon corporate store to avoid issues like this, especially when helping elderly family members on fixed incomes.

I felt that my satisfaction with the Verizon product was important to her. I recommend everyone to see her about your phone!
