I was a regular from back when this was North Portland Animal Hospital, it was excellent and affordable back then. I was just brought to tears with their prices. There's real PRESSURE to sign off on extra expenses. No compassion if you can't just drop a $1,000 on a follow up office visit. Item by item, the urgent care was about the same price or a few bucks more. They will force a $103.45 rabies shot on you, even for indoor cats. They do not allow you to sign a Rabies waiver anymore. This place is 100% about profit and money. 😔 There must be high turn over, I've never seen the same vet twice. They seem to always have different faces and are somewhat interchangable.

Have been using this place for at least 12 years and sorry to share that they have become very corporate as of late. There seems to be A LOT of veterinarian turnover, we just don't have the same vets from one visit to the next. Today's appointment was very repulsive. Our older doodle is on pain meds(Carprofen) and we get our prescription filled at Costco. We were told that we had to see the vet to renew our prescription. At the $130 visit, they tried to do more bloodwork ($300+) and brought up other issues that we had stated we weren't concerned about as she is older. When asked plainly about the minimum number of visits needed for the prescription renewal, we were told once per year. We had just been in 5 months earlier and paid for the bloodwork at that time. I now know that we can sign a waiver and decline the additional (and optional) testing. Simply put, the corporate upselling(they were purchased by MARS INC, in 2017) is going to have me looking for a new vet.

I found a poor deceased cat on a busy highway nearby and this place was so kind, so helpful to me with such a difficult situation. They allowed me to come to them and receive help for a cat that wasn't even mine, and upon arrival they showed me sympathy and so much kindness. I highly recommend this place to anyone.

Dr. Granum, Jessica, and Iris are amazing! From the moment I arrived looking like a mess who just ran out the door (because I had) and stressed about my senior cat, they were kind, patient, and welcoming and non judgmental. They answered all my questions respectfully and treated my girl gently. As we talked it was clear how everyone's choices were guided by data driven evidence and training. They explained everything in a way that allowed me to actively participate in the appointment as an informed partner. They followed up quickly and checked that she was doing better. They were understanding of my financial situation, and even learned how to pronounce my cat’s unusual name correctly. Knowledgeable, compassionate, and genuinely caring—one of the best vet experiences I’ve ever had.

Surprised by some of the lower reviews I'm seeing. We've been coming to this location for years and they are always so gentle and warm with our babies! Dr. Hogan, Dr. Granum, and all of the techs and assistants have been incredible.
