I waited more than 30 minutes in line to claim my gift card—something I was clearly told at the store where I purchased my phone could be done at any Best Buy location. But after all that waiting, the associate at this store told me I should “go to the store you bought it from” instead, simply because they were busy. When I explained I couldn’t make it back to that location and that this was the closest store to me, I was told, “It’s just down the road, you can go, right? I would recommend you go there.” Being busy doesn’t justify turning customers away or giving dismissive responses—especially when I was following instructions given by another Best Buy store. This experience was incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. If Best Buy says gift cards can be claimed at any location, then customers should be helped accordingly, not redirected for the store’s convenience.
