I was at the Best Buy Burlington store with my husband and witnessed a very uncomfortable interaction with a team lead named Nigel. We had come to the store to return a pair of headphones that were purchased less than 10 days ago from Best Buy in Montreal. When Nigel checked the receipt, he initially said he would “make an exception” and issue store credit but we’d also have to pay off the Fairstone balance. My husband simply asked a question to understand why the balance needed to be paid when the purchase was still within the return window. From that moment, Nigel’s attitude changed completely. He accused my husband of being “difficult” just for asking a clarification question and refused to proceed with the return. The conversation became unnecessarily uncomfortable. Nigel kept pushing the product back toward us across the counter and repeatedly suggested that we should go back to Quebec to return the item, even after we explained that we live in Ontario. He also said he would speak with another manager and disappeared for about 15 minutes. When he returned, he gave a completely different explanation saying the return could not be processed because it was purchased in Quebec. When we asked if we could speak with the other manager, he admitted he had not actually spoken to anyone. What made the situation upsetting was that it felt like we were being treated poorly simply because we asked a basic question. Customers should never feel like they cannot ask for clarification. The entire interaction at the returns counter between roughly 7:10–7:45 PM 12 Mar 2026 left us feeling embarrassed and shaken. I sincerely hope the store reviews how situations like this are handled, because no customer should have to feel this way for asking a simple question.

Very disappointing experience at the Best Buy Burlington store, specifically with a team lead named Nigel. I purchased a pair of headphones from Best Buy in Montreal using Fairstone financing. Within 10 days, I received another pair as a gift, so I visited the Burlington store expecting a straightforward return within the normal return window. When Nigel saw the receipt, he initially told me the item could not normally be returned because it was opened, but that he would “make an exception” and issue store credit and I would have to pay off the Fairstone balance. My only response was to ask a simple clarification question about why I would need to pay off the financing when I was still within the return period. At that point, his attitude completely changed. He accused me of being “difficult” just for asking a question and refused to process the return. Throughout the interaction he was dismissive and repeatedly pushed the product back toward us across the counter, which made the situation uncomfortable in front of other customers. He then said he would speak with another manager and disappeared for about 15 minutes. When he returned, he gave a completely different explanation saying the return could not be processed because the purchase was made in Quebec. When we asked if we could speak with the other manager, he admitted he had not actually spoken to anyone. To make things worse, he kept suggesting that we should go back to Quebec to return the item, even after I explained that I live in Ontario. What should have been a simple customer service interaction turned into a very uncomfortable experience. If the explanation from the beginning had simply been that opened headphones cannot be returned for hygiene reasons, we would have understood and left immediately. Instead, the reasons kept changing and the situation escalated simply because I asked a basic clarification question. Customers should never be made to feel like they shouldn’t ask questions. Unfortunately, this interaction left us feeling embarrassed and shaken in the store. I hope the store reviews the interaction that took place at the returns counter between approximately 7:10–7:45 PM 12 Mar 2026

Came in to buy iPhone 16 pro phone case. Sales guy laughed and said that phone is a year old now. Absolutely rude and I also found where they were being sold, they were the only phone case that was sold out of all different types so clearly people are still buying them. Found countless iPhone plus cases though

Nissi was incredible in helping me upgrade my phone and transfer contents from my old phone. She was so knowledgeable, and it was obvious that her entire team worked together on all their clients. So impressed.

Very disappointing customer experience. Just don't buy there. I gave it a shot as I didn't want to feed the beast (Amazon) and support local jobs but instantly regretted it. I had a really had costumer experience. I bought a chromebook with a 12month warranty that had a hardware failure just a few weeks after using it. Best buy did nothing to help but offered a discount if I buy another Chromebook 😆. They refused to take any responsibility because apparently I didn't buy an extended warranty. What is the point of the 12 month warranty that came with it? I didnt need an extension, this thing broke after just 6 weeks. It is outrageous for a Chromebook that is just 6 weeks old to expect me to accept the loss and buy another one with a in-store discount. I am still shocked and I am definetely not buying at best buy again. Amazon handles such issues wayy more professionally and it seems in contrast to best buy they at least try to provide some good customer experience. I'm done with best buy and I can't recommend anyone i buy there.
