I really like Dr. Curren at VCA Lakewood. All of the vet techs we've worked with have been great as well. However, the prices at this clinic are absolutely OUTRAGEOUS! They've been at least more than double what I was paying at our last vet for pretty basic services (routine exam fees and blood pressure checks, specifically). No transparency about cost before it's time to hand over the credit card. On top of that, nearly every time I call to ask a question or request an appointment, the front desk staff is incredibly rude and treats me like an inconvenience instead of a concerned pet parent and paying customer. The two times this happened recently, I spoke with Laura, she is just flat out rude! I try to give the benefit of the doubt and grace, and I have never been anything but kind and respectful to them, but wow. It's like an inconvenience to the staff when I call with questions or concerns. Starting to really regret our choice of VCA.

The vets are always amazing. However the powers that be from corporate office are having them charge outrageous fees with no justification. This place used to feel like the priority was the pet and not profit but there is a glaring difference in recent years. My last vist, the vet went to go swab the dogs ear and and look under a microscope for literally 20 seconds before advising what meds she is prescribing. They tried to charge a separate 80ish dollar fee to walk into another room to look under a microscope. The vet was kind enough to waive the fee and explained it was coming from corporate. I then spoke with the rep that manages (regional manager? Not sure her title) the location in question and gave the usual non-answer vague reply. If you cannot justify the price of a charge, you shouldn't be charging it. Pay close attention to what they are charging for and question it. There is literally no reason it costs 80 bucks to walk into another room and look at a Q-tip under a microscope. Please stop overcharging people during these difficult times

We had to put our cat Honey to rest yesterday. It was the most difficult day of my life, so I appreciate the compassion and care afforded to her from the staff during her final moments. Thank you.

Did not want to get imaging of my dog after she was showing signs of a bowel obstruction ;nausea, vomiting, not eating, and history of eating socks. Sent her home just to bring her back the next day for the same issues. Turns out she DID have a bowel obstruction because they thought it might be a good idea to do imaging the second day of symptoms. My dog was immediately taken for an emergency surgery in Akron. Terrible communication, delay of care, and just poor all around veterinary care
