We recently said goodbye to our chihuahua, Peanut, after 17 years. The team showed such incredible compassion, patience, and love, not only toward Peanut, but toward us as well. They treated him with gentleness and respect, and made one of the hardest moments of our lives peaceful and full of care.
It’s clear that everyone here truly loves what they do and cares deeply for both pets and their families. We’ll always be grateful for their kindness and the comfort they gave Peanut, not only in his final moments, but for the last 5 years of his senior life. Being able to have him in our lives for that long meant the world.

The staff at the VCA commack are all very nice, professional and courteous. I started going to them when my primary vet died suddenly and unexpectedly. My dog is a rescue that previously used VCA Farmingdale, but that location is much further away from my home so I had the records transferred to Commack.
My rescue is on anti anxiety meds and we need to continue using them although we've discussed lowering the dosages.
My issue with the vet is two fold. 1) getting the prescriptions sent to the pharmacy and 2) adhering to scheduled appointment times.
The scripts are supposed to be sent electronically to the pharmacy, yet the pharmacy never receives them. I call the pharmacy, they say they never got the transmission, I call the vet, the vet says they sent it. This occurs EVERY SINGLE TIME. A very nice young lady at the vet said I could come in person to pick up the written script when I get a moment, but they will fax it in anyway. The pharmacy still doesn't have it.
Setting appointments is relatively easy, yet the first time I went to them, I waited for 2 hours in the waiting room. I had a scheduled appointment for this past week and called when I was on my way to see if they were running in time. They said they were NOT. I said OK thank you and we rescheduled for a time where I would be the first appointment of the day.
The scheduled appointment time was for 9am. I left my house at 8:30am, got to the vet in time and still had to wait to be seen. This was an appointment for a new rescue of mine and they wanted ti conduct an examination. Understood. The tech does all the preliminary work, the vet comes in, we chatted and I leave. I don't live that far away, but get back home atb10:45am.
That's an hour and 45 minutes for a round trip visit to the vet.
This is not working for me. Entirely too frustrating!
