Don't go here for routine things like cat vaccines as you can find better pricing at Vetco (a division of Petco). The price for 1 shot here I could have gotten 3 at Vetco. I thought I would try them because I had a coupon. I am not sure how much more the visit would have cost if I didn't have a coupon. The staff was friendly and the wait time was short. The cost was just too much.

I brought a recently adopted cat in for an initial checkup. I was seen quickly, staff was friendly. However: I was very grossed out when the vet used his bare fingers to wipe tapeworms off of the cat's butthole, wiped the tapeworms on the table/scale before picking them up with a paper towel, and proceeded to use his computer, give the cat treats, and check her teeth without EVER WASHING HIS HANDS or otherwise disinfecting anything. After he left another member of the staff came in and used the same computer, zero hygiene protocol. I haven't spent a bunch of time at vets but this really grossed out and concerned me. She was very scared throughout the visit and they weren't aggressive but also didn't support making it a good experience. They also gave me large chalky pills to give her and a syringe to use with slurry, which I tried when I got home and she hated. I could've really used more support figuring out how to give her medications for the first time and making the vet a good experience. Won't be returning.

My partner and I made an appointment for our new kitten through VCA as our free check up because of recently adopting our kitten. Not sure if they just did not want to honor this or what happened but imagine our surprise when we show up to the appointment and they say they canceled it because we marked that we were not coming. I explicitly confirmed I was coming and certainly did not mark that I was not just to waste my own time. Traveling with a kitten on the subway for no reasoon is not that fun and unnessecarily emotionally tolling for my kitten.

(The two stars are for the kindness of the staff and my earlier positive experiences when it was independently owned.) I was a longtime client of Hope Animal Hospital and brought several of my cats there over the years. When I first started going, it was a small, privately owned, mom-and-pop practice — warm, caring, and fully capable of handling any procedure on site. The veterinarians were attentive, skilled, and genuinely cared for their patients. I trusted them completely. At some point, however, the hospital was sold to a corporate chain (I believe Mars Corporation), and unfortunately, existing clients weren’t notified. The level and scope of care changed dramatically after that. In 2023, when my senior cat developed a urinary blockage — a condition that any full veterinary hospital should be equipped to handle — I discovered that Hope no longer had a full-time vet on staff or the necessary medications to treat him. They sent me to an emergency hospital (which I later learned is owned by the same corporation), where I had to pay thousands of dollars to have the procedure done, on top of Hope’s own visit fee. Tragically, my cat blocked again just days later. I returned to Hope hoping they could help, and was told again that they couldn’t treat him — not even provide end-of-life care — because they didn’t have the medication or a veterinarian available. It was heartbreaking, confusing, and deeply traumatic. I want to emphasize that the front desk staff and vet assistants were kind, compassionate, and clearly doing their best. My earlier experiences at Hope, when it was independently owned, were truly wonderful. But in 2023, the clinic simply wasn’t equipped to function as a full veterinary hospital. Things may be different now, but I think it’s important for pet owners to know that this was my experience — and to make sure that wherever you bring your animals, they have a full-time vet on site and can provide complete care in an emergency. If you’re looking only for vaccinations or basic checkups, Hope may still be fine. But for long-term or comprehensive care, I’d recommend asking detailed questions before committing.

I have two cats and I take them to different vets! Same Rabies vaccine cost me 3x more at this hospital than at another place on the same day. Can't speak to anything else since that's all I needed to do this time but won't be going back there again for sure.
