Dr Chou saved my dog's life when my dog needed emergency surgery. Two years later my dog is still here and doing great. Dr Chin / assistant Sam were great for our future oncology checkups. We will miss them now that they're in the CT location. Thank you teams for all you have done and continue to do.

I had a horrible time here, Donna Bonacci is a terrible employee and has no respect for people at all. Didn’t care about my concerns and pretty much dismissed everything I said with attitude and no sincerity. Will never go here again and will make sure I tell everyone to stay far away as long as she works there. The rest of the staff was good to me but that experience ruined my perception of the business.

bought sick puppy to the hospital and they took her quickly and then told me dog she was brain dead and will die--I thought it was a toxin as we were cleaning house. I took her out "AMA" and brought to another hospital. She was alert and she is home with me 90% all good the next day. Did not do tests to see other than blood that they couldn't get full result. The other hospital did X-ray ekg and bloodwork and working on a reason. A dr should not tell a client that their dog was "brain dead" unless there was no hope. Really upsetting experience. I paid the same for the care there as the other with a real workup. Also they are NOT open 24 hours I am glad because I could still have her there if they didn't tell me they were closing.

My pet passed away at home and the staff here was so incredibly kind. I brought my cat to be cremated around 5am and they asked me if I wanted a room to say goodbye or if I needed anything. They mailed a thoughtful card and my pets remains were returned very quickly. I am so thankful that at a very hard moment the staff here went above and beyond to try to ease the pain. It meant a lot.

It’s taken me over a year to write this review due to how disturbing my experience at Katonah Bedford Vet Center was. I want to say up front, however, that I had nothing but wonderful, supportive experiences with front desk staff as well as the vet techs in the emergency care team.
My baby Catya was my soul cat, and by the time we were referred to VCA her situation was dire. In a matter of two months she had shrunk down to fewer pounds than when I had rescued her as an emaciated kitten 8 years prior. I knew something very serious was going on, and we had narrowed it down to likely a stomach cancer or severe IBD (I knew it was almost certainly cancer). I knew the chances of her surviving were slim, but from our first consultation we were immediately thrust into scheduling an invasive biopsy that I knew she was not strong enough for. They told us regardless of the biopsy results the treatment options were the same, so I tried vehemently to skip the procedure and just try the treatments, but they insisted. I tried one last time the day before her procedure and was told outright in a very rude and intimidating tone by Dr. Kerry Heuter that we were “either doing the biopsy tomorrow or never” in a way that clearly meant get with it or get out. There was zero room for just progressing to the treatment. It truly felt like if I said no to the biopsy, which cost more than my car (16k base cost on a social worker’s salary) I was essentially letting her die.
What was supposed to be a same day drop off/pick up turned into her spending I believe 4 days receiving emergency care including round the clock transfusions after her procedure. It was a miracle I was even able take her home. By the time I did she was in an extremely traumatizing state, and spent the last two weeks of her life being force-fed gabapentin to manage her post-op symptoms and peeing on herself bc of the meds. All in I spent about 24k I did not have and felt pressured to spend just for the surgery to speed up her death, and make her last two weeks some of the most traumatic moments of my life. I didn’t even receive so much as a signature from Dr. Heuter on my condolence card let alone a phone call.
Two weeks to the day of her surgery she died at Cornell Vet Center where they immediately identified the issue- an aggressive bowel cancer- on an ultrasound. They were astonished Katonah had recommended surgery for her- I am incredibly grateful for the care they gave her for her final days.
Catya meant the world to me, I miss her every single day. I would’ve sold my soul to have more time with her- but I truly feel like I had no option but to say yes to so many things I was not comfortable with, and while I of course trust experts to make decisions I don’t have the knowledge to make myself, I truly feel I was led to choose things I knew my baby couldn’t handle and feel that my expertise as her mom was overlooked with no humility. While I know no matter what I wouldn’t have gotten the time I wanted with her, I will forever regret not listening to my gut and just giving her the best last two weeks of her life, instead of subjecting her to see me as her torturer.
I again thank the front desk and vet tech staff who hugged me, gave me tissues, called me with updates and showed my baby love and nurturance. But otherwise I highly recommend others don’t make the same mistake I made and wait the extra couple days, take the longer drive, to go to Cornell instead.
