  Just went in to get my zag cover on my iPhone 17 replaced because it has an unlimited replacement policy but the geek squad manager said there’s an eight dollar charge when the last six times I brought the phone in. They installed it for free and made no mention of any charge. It’s not the fact of eight dollars. It’s the fact that six times I came and replaced my screen protector, and there was no charge or mention of a charge and all of a sudden this manager wants to act like he’s Mr. Best Buy and he owns the place and enforce rules and he said from Here on out I’m ending your free replacement. Maybe spend a little less time talking about your weekend plans with your coworkers and spend a little more time managing and enforcing the rules. How is it that the last six times I got my screen replaced in the last year. There was no mention of a charge and all of a sudden you’re enforcing a policy I’ve never heard of. I asked him to go ahead and have it installed for free as a courtesy he said no so now I’m expressing my frustration so others can see how they treat their customers. I even asked him to look up the last six times I got that replaced how much they charged me for install. He said it doesn’t matter. They weren’t doing their job. I believe a manager’s job is to make sure the employees are doing their job so I guess this is just a shitty manager.

  My phone had potentially been compromised via a link that I accidentally clicked, and my bank wanted me to go somewhere to get my phone checked out or cleaned before restoring my credentials. I had messaged a live chat agent on the Best Buy/Geek Squad website, and as you can see in the attached photo, they said that this is something that a Geek Squad member could do in person. So they scheduled me an appointment, and then days later after a half hour drive to get there and killing time before the appointment, once I talk to someone at Gerk Squad, they tell me that checking the phone for spyware, etc. is not something they can do. It's confusing because the banks want you to go get your phone checked, and then the professionals they point you to don't have a means to do so. While I've since learned more about this (I know Apple products are pretty secure), it's just a little misleading that Best Buy/Geek Squad agents online are specifically saying that this is a service a team member can assist you with in a store, and then when you get there, that is not the case. So just in case anybody experiences a similar thing: beware, and do not waste your time booking an appointment and then dealing with traveling to/parking at the mall just to be told there's nothing they can do for you.

  I hope I can give a zero star rating. I would like to upgrade my small SSD boot drive to a larger one. But I would like to clone the small one to the larger one so after replacement, I do not need to re-install anything. I called the customer service of Geek Squad Team, and they confidently told me they can do this. So I made an appointment with our local Geek Squad Team, spent quite long time to drive to there, and went to the appointment on time. However, the technician of the local Geek Squad Team told me they do not know how to do that. I said your customer service told me you guys can do this, so I scheduled this appointment. They rudely told me "those people always tell customers we can do this and we can do that, which are not true". So I wasted a lot of time driving there but got no service. I would like to know who was lying, the customer service of Geek Squad Team, or the local Geek Squad Team? I will no longer trust Best Buy and the service they provide.
