So they say check in starts at 3pm. My wife and I arrived at 4pm, we had a concert to go to and needed to get ready and leave by 6 pm. We waited in the check in line for 35 minutes for the person checking us in our room wasn’t ready and could be ready for up to two hours. I was completely dumbfounded and went into a panic because I’m like what was the point of getting the room to be within the vicinity of the concert?? Luckily it worked out in our favor and didn’t have to wait for two hours. But the initial response was apologizing and a “this is pretty standard” statement. Other than that the building and decor was beautiful, the room was awesome with a great view!! The jet and bubble feature in the tub were inoperable , it smelled of marijuana in the hallways and in the bathroom and entry of room which makes my wife nauseated. I would want to come back but I will not due to the lack of confidence in getting my room when they say I can check in.
The smell 🤢 ugh
Smells like cigarettes, weed and scented vaping everywhere. Other hotels have a smell of smoke around the casinos only but the Cosmopolitan smelled bad everywhere. Walk into the Bellagio, Vdara or Aria for a breath of fresh air. We were initially on the 17th floor, we heard everything and faced the strip. The window was missing 2 curtains and the window had a black poster board covering 2/3 of the window as a "fix" for missing the curtains, so we had a light show all night. We requested a room change, we were given the 52nd floor opposite of the strip. Much better, but the room smelled of smoke and even the balcony on the 52nd floor smelled of weed. The hallway was very dark and the light over our door was out. Check-in was a 30 minute wait. Room service food the first night was good but went downhill from there. The actual menu and the ordering menu were different. The last night I ordered some chicken noodle soup, 3/4 was broth and the noodles weren't cooked. If I come back, not staying here.
Glam ? Not here. The glammed up lobby does not translate to the rooms. My friends talked this place up SO much, but I was left utterly disappointed after I chose this hotel for my birthday (40th) visit to Vegas. Almost wanna ask for some kind of refund to be honest.
Let’s break it down (3 nights stay) into 3 categories (solo traveler): Checkin, Room, and Overall experience with rates of 1-5 where 5 is best experience
Check-in : 1
——————
What a disorganized front desk when it comes to assigning rooms
- Arrived at 12pm. Told no early checkin even though the couple next to me got their room key. I even offered to pay any upgrade cost if a pricier room was available, still no.
- Had mentioned it was my 40th birthday trip and chose their hotel as my hotel of choice for the big event. Met with a barely luke warm response of “oh nice”
- Could not get into a room until 530pm, due to late cleaning
- Did not honor the single king I paid for and gave me a room with two queens saying it was the same price, but It's the principle.
Room : 1
—————
I’ve seen WAY better rooms in Vegas at the same price point, actually even lesser
- Didn’t feel the glam of the lobby in this hotel room. Minus the sinks/mirrors which felt simi glam the room was underwhelming compared to other hotels. Felt more like a NY low-mid tier hotel that used TJ Max furniture and a very generic mattress.
- Bedding was firm with barely any give. Pillows were medium-high firmness. I prefer bed and pillows that I sink more into
- Bathroom shower tile flooring was not flush so it continually poked me while showering .
- Toilet fan was very dusty
- The room did have a refrigerator, but didn’t provide cooling unless you pushed a button on the inside side wall which listed “2hr ❄️”
- No microwave , so if you did continuously push the button when it’s been 2 hrs you’ll have no way to warm it back up
Overall Experience: 1
———————————
Definitely won’t be back and won’t be suggesting people to stay here either. Location was the only good thing, but didn’t help improve the score based on everything else
- Cleaning/housing was late first 2 days . Like not until 530pm both days
- First room they gave me had an adjoining door to the next room which had a very audible family with kids next door. Not very knowledgeable on how to place solo travelers. (Second room they gave didn’t have the door)
- House keeping did leave me a small gift for my birthday. However, had I not left a note for Housekeeping I doubt I would have received a small gift. This is just based on how little staff cared when I said it was a birthday visit. I had given “guest services” prior knowledge via phone call it was 40th birthday hotel stay when I called a week prior if I could do early check in. So this isn’t me just saying “how did you not know” without context. Both my ID and prior week call gave them knowledge of my birthday
- Not having a microwave sucked, because I did take leftover back to the room, but was forced to eat it when I didn’t find a microwave
- When I looked Cosmopolitan only offered one show which was nearly $500 to see. Wound up going to other hotels for shows
Extremely disappointed. A highly anticipated trip ruined by broken promises.
I flew halfway across the globe for this trip and booked my stay months in advance, specifically requesting a Wraparound Suite or a Boulevard Terrace Suite. I had been looking forward to this Cosmopolitan experience for a very long time.
I arrived early at 11:30 AM for check-in and tipped the front desk agent generously. She informed me that the Boulevard Wraparound was unavailable but promised me a Terrace Suite on the Boulevard side around the 30th floor. She assured me I would receive an email with my room number in an hour.
I waited the ENTIRE DAY and received absolutely nothing. When I returned to the front desk at night, I was shocked to be told that not only was my promised room gone, but there were NO Wraparound or Boulevard suites left at all. I was ultimately downgraded and shoved into a 16th-floor room in the other tower.
While the night manager eventually stepped in and offered a room rate discount, it completely fails to make up for the fact that my entire day was wasted waiting for a room that was given away to someone else. The lack of communication, the bait-and-switch tactic, and the sheer disregard for a promised reservation are completely unacceptable for a luxury resort on the Strip. You completely ruined my last night in Vegas.

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas: Where Leaving Is Technically Optional
I checked into the Cosmopolitan fully expecting to explore Las Vegas.
I did not leave.
Not because I couldn’t… but because every time I considered it, the building gently whispered, “Why?” and then handed me another incredible option.
Let’s start with the rooms — because WOW. Floor-to-ceiling windows, ridiculous views, and balconies that make you feel like you accidentally upgraded your entire life. At one point I stood out there thinking, “I should probably go somewhere,” and then immediately decided, “No, this is somewhere.”
The rooms are so nice you start judging your own home. Like… why doesn’t my house have this energy? Why is my shower not a spa experience? Why don’t I have a skyline?
Then there’s the food situation, which is honestly unfair to the rest of Las Vegas.
You wake up — boom, Starbucks.
You want breakfast — Eggslut casually exists.
You’re hungry later — suddenly you’re surrounded by options like it’s a food Avengers lineup.
Every time I thought, “Maybe I’ll go somewhere else,” another restaurant appeared like, “Or… you could not.”
And the bars? Same problem. You don’t go looking for a drink — the drinks find you. Beautiful spaces, great vibes, and just enough energy to make you feel like something important might happen… even if that “something” is just ordering another round.
At no point are you uncovered. Coffee? Covered.
Breakfast? Covered.
Dinner? Covered.
Late-night chaos hunger? Somehow… still covered.
It’s less of a hotel and more of a fully self-sustaining ecosystem where your only real responsibility is deciding what you’re in the mood for next.
Final verdict:
If you come here, make peace with the fact that you may not leave. Not because you can’t… but because you’ll realize you don’t need to.
And honestly? That feels like the po
