When I entered, I was told to sit and that a representative would be with me shortly. The representative was already assisting an elderly couple who appeared to have been there for quite some time and was in the process of activating their new phones. I understand helping existing customers thoroughly—no issue there. What was disappointing is that for over an hour, I was completely ignored. No eye contact, no check-in, no acknowledgment of why I was there or whether someone else could assist. At one point, the representative made a joking comment—loud enough for me to hear—to the couple she was helping: “People who come into the store need to learn to wait their turn.” At no point did I behave impatiently or unreasonably. After an hour, she finally acknowledged me and said she’d be with me “in a bit.” I replied that I would be leaving shortly. She still did not ask what I needed help with. I wished everyone a good evening and left. I’ve worked in customer service my entire career, often under high-stress conditions, and I’ve always believed that communication and basic acknowledgment are non-negotiable. This experience fell well below that standard. Whether or not this individual is a manager, the lack of communication and situational awareness was unacceptable. Unfortunately, this interaction has pushed me away from Verizon entirely. I will not be returning to this location and will most likely be changing carriers. Very disappointing.
