Ever since the VCA was bought out by the mars corporation it has gone downhill. The Mars corporation should stick to making candy. It seems they have strictly gone to a profit only model. No Sunday hours. No 24 hour emergency room. The only reason I still go there is Doctor Russman. She is an exceptional vet. Has been seeing my dogs for five years. Ever since the company moved to Holly it’s been horrendous. I called for an issue with my dog, asking if there was a chance anyone cancelled an appointment so I could be seen. Was told no but could go to emergency room. Five minutes later I checked online and an appointment had opened up. It used to be to be they would call you if one opened up. No more. They would just rather maximize profit by making you come to er

Unsure why they advertise themselves as an emergency vet. I went here for my cat worried about a blockage and dehydration and they said it was best I went somewhere else since they don’t do surgery. While I was here, they sent three others away. One needed stitches and one just wanted a bite on their dogs ear cleaned. Poor service, does not offer emergency services, and refuses pets. Additionally, upon arrival I opted in to paying $400-600 for an emergency visit to be turned away.

VCA is my regular vet and I have been happy with them. I especially appreciate Dr. Russman and her tech Eloise. However whoever answered my call regarding an emergency with my dog on 4/8 was completely inappropriate in her demeanor. She was literally laughing and giggling about my dogs potential obstruction. Because of her odd demeanor I decided not to listen to her advice to just monitor him and instead took him to Roadrunner where they recommended IMMEDIATE emergency surgery. VCA dropped the ball with this one

I recently moved to ABQ and was recommended this place when I had an emergency with my dog, but I experienced one of the greatest disappointments of my life. The staff showed ZERO empathy. I arrived at 11:30am with my pet trembling and in distress. By 4:00pm, they still hadn't attended to us, and I had to go to the front desk to ask what time we would be seen. To my surprise, they suggested that I go somewhere else. After 5 hours of waiting. I was brought to tears out of helplessness due to their lack of compassion. To them, it was just another animal; to me, she is my life companion. They simply did not care. Not a single kind word. The treatment was cruel and unprofessional. VCA: If you are unable to assist potential patients/clients DO NOT offer a service you can not provide. Do not claim that you accept walk-ins if that is not the case. The lives of pets and their owners should not be left in the hands of people who are so indifferent.
