I had a puppy with a broken leg and the hospital took me as an emergency. Unfortunately they were unable to operate on my puppy because they could not secure the plate that was needed, but they helped me find another hospital. The doctor and technician were completely compassionate and helpful. Although the surgery was not performed in their facility, they followed up on my puppy.

I have never had a worse experience with a vet.
Fearful dogs: I have an anxious dog who has been doing great at the vet recently. Dr. Nguyen did not listen to a single one of my requests to make his visit any easier. I would not recommend any anxious or nervous dog to come here. She only recommended "fear free" medicine which my dog had already taken before I brought him in. They then proceeded to dose the absolute daylight out of my dog with ketamine just to collect basic bloodwork. I had to carry my 75lb German Shepherd's limp body out of the office. She also told me she thought he was too slim and that his teeth looked bad, both the opposite of what my previous vet had commented!
Prescription pickup: Based on the results, they recommended an antibiotic. I asked them to fill it on site. The next day, I called and asked for an update and they said they were too busy. They said check maybe Monday (an entire week after our initial appointment).
New Technicians: Every single tech they have here is always new and doesn't know what they are doing at all. Had a tech appointment here for my dog's allergy shot and the tech dispensed the injection into my dog's fur instead of under the skin. Like, he obviously has long fur. I could have done a better job. Another tech had to come in to do the injection.
VCA I'm not interested in emailing you. Read the review.

Update: 3 days after posting my ONE STAR review (below), here is the posted reply from VCA Winslow Animal Hospital (owner). I am being offered the opportunity to reach out and apparently provide more clarity on my most recent experience and "perspective." My last experience and reason for the negative review is factual and succinct. The owner's vapid and meaningless reply says all any intelligent reader needs to know about this facility. What more is there for me to say, except DO BETTER for your continuing/future clients (of which I am not one.)
Original review:
I was a long-time client with Winslow Animal Hospital, previously under Phillip Coudrais and now under VCA management. I entrusted the care of 6 various cats from the '90's until late October '25. My last visit was the euthanization of one of my beloved pets. Since that sad day almost 3 months ago, other than "we are sorry for your loss" verbalized by the available vet on staff and his tech assistant (my usual excellent vet, Dr. Sheila Levie, was out of town at the time), VCA WAH never reached out whatsoever to express ANY sympathy to this long-time loyal client: no card; no text message; no email; no phone call. Very different from previous management, who actually cared. Why would I continue to support this facility (not the cheapest by the way) which clearly looked at me as nothing more than a reliable paying business customer? I have recently transferred my veterinary needs to another facility less convenient to me, but by all indications much more appreciative of my business. (I should note Dr. Levie left WAH employment shortly afterwards for reasons unknown to me).

I was refereed for my dog from his primary vet and will not be returning. I called ahead of time because my dog has some anxiety and let them know what usually works for him to keep him calm and make appointments go smoothly for everyone. This was completely ignored. Surgeon said all the things it could be but never gave me any information on the actual procedure, post op, healing process, time line. Just a list of all the worst case scenarios and not anything more. Stated she was checking the schedule and would be back then was never seen again. Thirty minutes later it was the vet tech (who was very nice and probably the only person that seemed to care) who came back with a bag of meds and list of dates with no times to come back for imaging and surgery. Checking out the one receptionist who was training was very rude when I was trying to schedule the next appointment and pay. She spent the entire time complaining about the job and surgical team while I was at the desk directly in front of them. She made multiple statement while I was trying to get scheduled how this is “not her job” “is a job above her” and how this is the the surgical teams fault because they should have called me to do this and they don’t do their jobs right. Originally she even tried to tell me I was wrong after the surgery team told me to schedule with them at the front desk until the vet tech also expressed this to them but processed to make multiple comments about the facility and surgical team when the vet tech had left. The bag of meds I received also contained two medication that can cause seizures in his breed after failing to check despite me requesting it for any meds ordered and was told “oh I guess I’ll have to look”. They also were apparently not supposed to charge me for these medications I later found out after getting home and questioning the prescription to make sure it was safe. This is when I was told to not give any because none had been checked and I couldn’t be guaranteed a refund. I later was contacted back to be told I would be getting refunded for the two medications he can’t take because I shouldn’t have been charged initially anyway and an error occurred when checking out where they “accidentally” charged me. I will not be returning as this level of negligence I fear can only lead to my dog having more risks in getting a procedure here than benefit. Requested a call back regarding concerns and from surgeon for clarification since no information was given but never heard back which leads me to feel that they feel this is how they typically operate and not just an off day unfortunately.

I’m being generous with my review. I miss the old Winslow animal hospital. Of course it went down hill when private equity bought it out. We see all the changes. It’s about the bottom dollar as always and not about the owners who spend their hard earned money. I’ve been coming here for years and raved about this vets office. The changes are so evident. We can no longer get a script approved via chewy so we of course have to use their portal to order from them or pick up a script, the wait times are longer, I can now no longer get a tech appt because they have decided they don’t do them anymore on the weekends. Vet appointments are so rare now probably because most of the good staff quit and were working the other good staff to the bone. I see the turnover in staff, it’s good in there, no tv on in the wait room, longer wait times and bare minimum availability for vet appointments. The vets seem burnt out and not fully present. To say I’m beyond disappointed and it’s only getting worse- I literally laughed when they were checking us out via credit card in the back rooms a while back. It lacks such personalization here and something needs to be done! Beyond disappointed but not surprised. Hopefully someone sees this and makes the changes but I won’t hold my breath!
