This location used to be amazing – it had a friendly, knowledgeable staff and great vets. Unfortunately, over the last few years, the quality has dropped significantly. Most of the good vets have left, leaving only Dr. Sommers.
One time I brought my dog in and they pushed vaccinations so aggressively that my dog nearly died. If it hadn’t been for a vet (who has since left for Newton) stepping in, my dog wouldn’t be alive today.
This place has turned into nothing more than a corporate money grab. They will load your pet up with unnecessary vaccinations without considering breed-specific risks or reactions.
⚠️ BEWARE: Do your own research before trusting them with your pet’s health. I won’t be going back – and you shouldn’t either.

I'll forever be grateful for vca Blairstown, Dr. Clegg, Gail, Linda, all the techs. I am bad with names but everyone here! Our dogs go here and will continue to. Our girl moonshine got extensive care for her kidney disease for over 4.5 years! Any time we called we were in when we wanted! Anything she needed she got. The customer service and care at this facility is top notch. Moonshine loved coming in and seeing everyone. Getting compliments from Dr. Clegg was her favorite 💚 Sadly our girl passed recently but we will still be around with our girl stelly!

Dr Gage and the staff at the hospital took care of me and my dog like we were a part of their family. We had a long drawn out bout of emergency surgery due to a foreign object passing into the intestine. The level of honesty from the doctor was unmatched. There was no judgement and he took the time to consider my values in decision making. I have never been treated with such kindness. I will be forever grateful. As a life long dog owner who has been to many different vets throughout the state, I’ll never go anyplace else again. Anyone who writes a bad review about this facility is a fool. I also want to compliment their professionalism in scheduling patients so the waiting room isn’t full of cats and dogs who are nervous and going nuts due to cramped conditions. It was clear to me that their practice is about helping pets and not just making money. The staff at the front desk were wonderful, the techs were wonderful, and Dr Gage is an impeccable human being. Don’t judge this facility by its cover, there are tons of fancy looking places that treat you like a pocket book, but Blairstown Animal Hospital is all heart. Thank you all so much for what you did for my family.
