I spilt a drink on my very expensive high end laptop, first time I've ever done anything like that. Did what the internet said and cleaned up and let it dry overnight. It also said to not turn it on for 4 days but to clean and dry it on the inside. Next day, I took it to Best Buy Geek Squad to have that done. BIG MISTAKE.
I told the guy at the desk (very polite but obviously not knowledable nor did he look anything up or ask others for info on what to do) what happened and that I had not turned it back on but wanted to get it cleaned inside. He immediately hit the power button and turned it on! WHAT??? You think he'd know better! It began to pop and crackle! Then a loud pop! "Pretty sure that was you mother board frying." he said! He wanted me to send it away for 4+ weeks but said they might just send it back saying they can't even fix it. But they could charge me $175 for some annual plan to take my data off first. He also incorrectly said this plan covers repairs. Upon reading more later, it DOES NOT, but gives a slight discount. It's mostly tech support. Def would not have been worth it for me.
Of course I had my computer fixed elsewhere.
I asked for the managers name and number because the guy's incompetence had fried my mother board. I called MANY TIMES to all of the numbers I could get, it's an endless customer service nightmare, mostly going to the national line. NEVER got a single call back, not once!
I'm not sure I will EVER buy anything at best buy again!

Had issue with pc not booting told them repeatedly that I’ve already switched out the psu so it can’t be the issue. Paid $100 for them to diagnose and waited 4 days just for them to tell me it could be my psu issue without a definite answer. They even asked me how to put an gpu in when they are supposed to be the tech person. They also wouldn’t do any proper testing unless I pay another $160 and when I ask exactly what they even do they just kept saying to pay another $160 or buy their plan for them to look at it again. Switched the psu again when I got home and still same issue. Waste of money and time.
