  I went in today already knowing what I wanted but Danni was still extremely helpful. He offered me the extras without being pushy, walked me through setting up my new phone, and was overall very kind. He worked with multiple customers at the same time while still making sure to help me the entire time. I’ve been in retail management for over 15 years and I can honestly say an employee like Danni is a rare find.

  I went to buy an Apple Watch for which my main use case is wanting to track steps while running without having my phone on me. I was trying to decide if I wanted to have the option for LTE or not and asked if without LTE you can still download music and/or podcasts physically to the watch itself and they seemed very confused and started talking about being in proximity to the phone, then when I clarified again the sales person said “there is no storage on the Apple Watch it needs a connection to the phone or LTE”, but the way she phrased it made it seem like she didn’t realize that the watch is a computer and therefore must have at least some storage which gave me doubts, they then sent another employee. This third employee was much more helpful and understanding and actually tested on his own device if he could listen to previously downloaded and he wasn’t able to (likely because they were marked as downloaded but were downloaded to a different device, not sure), but said in the past he was able to but noted that he did have an LTE plan at the time and couldn’t be sure if that had anything to do with it. At the end up of the day I didn’t have a clear answer and just bought the LTE version “just in case.” I then went home and set up the watch and (while it was admittedly difficult to find out how) was able to download podcast episodes directly to the watch and listen with no LTE, WIFI, or Bluetooth connection to my phone proving what all of the employees seemed to think to be wrong. In my case with the cheaper model LTE is only $50 more but with some of the higher end models the LTE upgrade is much more so someone unnecessarily getting LTE when they don’t need it due to lack of store employee knowledge is really bad. While I found the third employee at least helpful and earnest I am very disappointed at the lack of technical knowledge by the staff, and even ignoring technical knowledge just non technical product knowledge of whether or not you can physically download music/podcasts to an Apple Watch and then listen to with no WiFi, LTE, or connection to a phone seems like a basic feature that employees should be able to give a clear and definitive answer on. It’s something that could be the factor that makes someone choose a non LTE capable model over an LTE capable one.
