I wouldn’t necessarily say that she worked some magic. I’d say that the magic within her showed itself at exactly the right time.. she made my month! I walked into the store feeling defeated. Despite the beautiful weather and the fact that I didn’t have to wait in line, I was tired. I was also angry and frustrated. My “waterproof” phone had fallen into a shallow tub of water and had only been submerged for about 2 seconds. Over the course of five days, I utilized skills I’d learned from working at a cell phone company in the past to make my phone live again. I put her in front of fans, soaked that bad baby in rice-every tactic of which I could think. Now, while customer service representatives are not psychologists, they tend to hear a mouthful about people’s life’s. Before beginning the explanation of my issue, I’d decided that I would get straight to the point and was not going to complain. I was going to skip the part about speaking with 8 different representatives via chat and over the phone about getting my Apple Watch to stand alone while my phone recovered. I wasn’t going to go into detail about how not only was that issue not resolved, but also how matters were worse after speaking with them. Before speaking with them, I could at least connect my watch with my iPad hotspot and make calls. After all of my lovely calls-where I exhibited a mentally unstable amount of patience, I ended up with a reset watch that didn’t work. I was at a point where the watch now required to be connected with my phone which may I remind you, was dead!!! Ugh. Anywho, I asked Maiya about my options. She gave them and suggested the best resolution for my scenario which was to get a new device. While I had already guessed that a new phone would be the best resolve, I had my reservations. For one, the phone that had died had the last memories of my mother who passed in December. I also was not/am not in a financial predicament to upgrade early, pay all the fees and increase my monthly bill. The third reason is because... the freaking iPhone 13 will be out in a few months. This happens EVERY FREAKING TIME. By this, I mean my phone going out a few months before the new one premieres. It makes me feel like the kid that never gets the new stuff when it comes out. I’m the child that has to wait ‘til it goes on clearance after that “new new” comes out. SMH. I digress.. lol. Back to Maiya. My girl(she’s my friend in my head now) came through with the best options, she heard my concerns, she listened to the complaints that I said I wouldn’t bring up, she addressed my issues without ANY problems and I left happy. Customer service is about more than just listening and resolving just so that you can get done and get the next guy waiting in the comfy sofa chair thingies. True and valued customer service involves engaging with the customer, hearing ALL their concerns, empathizing, appreciating the customer, making the customer feel valued and allowing them to feel in that moment-like their issue is the most important thing in the world.-well maybe not the world, but you catch my drift. Maiya delivered just that and I am grateful for her. The biggest concern which was about losing my mother’s memories were addressed and I still have my pictures, text messages and voicemails. My girl single-handedly swooped in like a hero and restored my faith in the company. Not all heroes wear capes. Some of them work at your nearest Verizon store. Thank you, Maiya! Be blessed!
