I had a deeply disappointing experience with Best Buy’s corporate customer service regarding a faulty Shure MV7 Plus microphone. I bought it in mid-August, but only opened the box 10 weeks later (because of my wedding, honeymoon, and setting up a home studio). When I did, it didn’t record any sound — it was clearly broken.
I called customer service and was told I was outside Best Buy’s 15-day return window, so there was “nothing that could be done.” I then drove to the Germantown, MD store and spoke with the store manager, who was kind and tried to help. But because I didn’t pay for Geek Squad or an extended service plan (I only have a free membership), he said he couldn’t replace or repair it. He even joined a call with corporate customer service, but neither side would lift their policy: both said, “there’s nothing we can do.”
I reached out to Shure, and they were willing to repair or replace the mic — but I had to pay ~$30–40 to ship it. And spend 2-3 weeks waiting for the microphone to be returned to me.I declined to go that route because I expected Best Buy to provide some support. Instead, I was basically told: “Go take a hike… Beat it, bud.”
What’s more, Best Buy’s membership and protection model is very costly. To even have a shot at repair beyond the 15 day window, you often need to pay for their paid membership or Geek Squad coverage — which, for serious audio gear, makes the risk of buying through them much higher.
I now buying all of my high-end audio/video gear from Sweetwater, B&H Photo, or similar retailers. For example, Sweetwater offers a free two-year warranty on most gear (no expensive membership required), plus a flexible “easy pay” payment plan, and a 30-day return/exchange policy. Their support and warranty terms are far superior to what I experienced with Best Buy.
Because of this, I no longer trust Best Buy for my creative tech purchases. Their policies, as applied here, left me feeling abandoned and frustrated. I hope other customers think twice, especially for pro-audio equipment. I am left with a brand new, fresh out the box shure mv7+ microphone that does not work. And instead I have to ship off to Shure headquarters for a 30-40$ shipping cost and wait the 2-3 weeks for the verdict! Be ware you shoppers!

My experience from beginning to end was awful. I was treated poorly in the Richfield store, the manager was so rude and I was in their with someone from Corporate that noted my experience. I don’t think they appreciate black customers and I am taking this to social media as well. For someone to spend the money I spent on Meta Glasses and be talked to like crap is crazy. The glasses has had issues from the first time I purchased. I went to have them
Adjusted or exchanged and that was a big mistake. I am contacting Meta to let them know Beat Buy was the wrong place to have their product.
I’ve been a loyal Best Buy customer for years, but my recent experience has been unbelievably frustrating. I purchased a TCL QM851G TV with a five-year protection plan, expecting dependable service if issues arose. Instead, I’ve spent months trying to get a simple repair or replacement with no success.
After my TV failed again, I went through repeated “escalations,” missed calls, and broken promises. Best Buy scheduled repair appointments without confirming my availability — then failed to show up twice. I even called off work to be home, only for no one to arrive or contact me. When I asked for a return due to the repeated no-shows, I was told it would be “escalated” again. Instead of resolving anything, they just scheduled yet another random appointment without my consent.
I’ve now lost time, money, and all confidence in Best Buy’s support and protection plan process. It feels like no one takes ownership, and customers are left chasing a solution that never comes.
Bottom line: If you value your time and expect accountability, think twice before relying on Best Buy for providing any kind of service for a purchased item.

Best Buy has gone the way of factory direct. You cannot call the store on the phone, when you call the local nuimber, it goes to an answering service in Panama. You cannot get delivery from the store, they will set up delivery from the factory, so when ;the website says available in 1 hour - they mean if you go and pick it up and install it yourself. Their installation service is a contractor who is scheduled at least three weeks in advance, so if you order anything will professional installation - it will be at least three weeks till it is done. I ordered a TV on Nov 10th, set the schedule tool on line for installtion on Nov. 15th (earliest time available) and got an email asking me to reschedule - earliest time DEC> 8th!!! I drive to the store (a 20 min drive) and purchase the TV I ordered, but I have to pick it up and do the install, otherwise it's DEC 8th. I just checked with Walmart - same TV factory delivery in three days. If I could give Best Buy a negative rating, I would - prediction - Amazon and Walmart will throw these idiots out of business in a year or less - do not buy GEEK Squad service - it's crap shoot and service is horrible.
So Far—Terrible! I only decided to purchase a laptop because a friend rec them and the Black Friday Sale is supposedly on rn! So Far, they charged my cc 3x for the original laptop that they then canceled the order saying they couldn’t verify my info! When I called customer service they said it was refunded. They then setup a new order for a different laptop (at my request), charged me and shortly after they canceled the order citing the same as above! The rep then refunded my card and suggested I contact my Bank. I did and they confirmed it wasn’t on their end and also said the first charge was NOT refunded! Only the last charge! When I called my bank again later they now see 3 pending charges for the first laptop! They BETTER Refund ALL charges! Buyer Beware! Also, as others have noted, you cannot reach the stores direct, you will only be routed to the call centers and good luck at who you get and what kind of assistance you are given! Horrendous!
