    After setting up my new device at home, I went to the Verizon store in Novi on 1/12/26 to trade in my old phone. When I came in, I waited up front while a staff member was finishing up with a customer. After a couple minutes, this customer left and I was the only one up front. I walked towards the staff and he just stared at me without a greeting, smile, or a “how can I help?” I asked him if I needed to sign in on the tablet first or if he could help me. He remained silent so I was like “……welp I’m here to trade in my phone.” He held his hand out for me to give him my old phone. He took it, turned it off then back on, then said “I’ll go get you the receipt.” He came back quickly and handed me a piece of paper and then just stood there idly. I was like “….so is that it?” He gave me as tiny nod so I said thanks and left. I wasn't super peeved at the time bc he wasn’t outwardly rude and the visit was super quick, however later on I ran into issues with my new phone, which likely could have been prevented if he had taken some time to ensure my new device was working properly. I had set it up on my own prior to my trip to Verizon and I thought it was good to go since I was able to access my apps, get on the internet, and text with my partner. Later that day I realized some functions were not working (texting non iPhone users, making/receiving calls) and I ended up having to spend literal hours on the phone with customer service to reactivate the device correctly. I think the average person probably needs some help with this process. I’m in my 30s and have a masters degree yet still needed assistance to follow all the steps of the activation process. I am certain that the elderly and those with cognitive issues would be screwed if left to do it on their own. I think Verizon employees should anticipate this and take the initiative to oversee the activation process of new devices, especially when they take the time to come into the store.

    Every time I come to this store I get a great specialist that understands exactly what to. Today I thought I had an extra difficult issue but Bill Matti was emotionally supportive (I was worried), listened without interruption, and fully understood how to resolve the issue. Additionally, he wanted to make sure he was capturing the whole issue and asked to repeat it back to me. 😃 very validating and supportive. Great experience! Thanks Verizon!!!!!!
