First time I’ve ever been looked at weird for cooking for my dogs by a vet, only time I’ve had a vet not do an exam but charge me for it, only time I’ve had a vet afraid of my dog, and only time I’ve had a vet seemingly refuse to give priced for neuters when asked 3 times. I grew up with animals. I know weird when I encounter it.

My Goldies both love VCA. They miss Shannon & Renee, but Pete, Jacinta continue to carry the torch and the new girls we just met are fantastic and helpful. I cannot ever thank the Technician Melissa enough and her communicative and helpful recommendations and the kindness from her, she spends time talking with you and she is a true pleasure. Kari is noted as well. As well, Dr. Begeny who my pups adore and look forward to seeing, great advice and care. The whole team though as well through the almost 5 years. So focused on your pups health and having VCA Care Club is by far the best insurance and pet care support that money can buy. Pet care is not cheap anywhere, but it is your best friend(s) you are taking care of and they depend on you. Yes there are times it can get hard, I've been there believe me, but VCA will see you through and advise you to help out, they are not pushy and offer supportive recommendations. The Farmington Hills location is a bit of a drive for me, but I do it because my two girls are so very important to me and they love it there. And again, Melissa, Dr. Begeny and Pete, team, please never leave VCA in Farmington Hills, you are so admired, loved and needed. Again, VCA Care Club is the best way to go on a budget, you know your precious companions are counting on you. Thanks team!!!!!!!

IV PORT LEFT INSIDE MY DOG AFTER NEUTER SURGERY: I have been taking my Pomeranian Cookie to VCA for roughly a year. We were part of their care program, and my dog received all his shots, as well as having neuter surgery. The day of surgery was an absolute nightmare!!! I have been in contact with them about this, however this negligence has cost them a customer! His pickup time was 5:30; They close at 6pm. I was informed at pickup, Cookie had a bandage I could remove at home. I didn’t get home until 6pm. I went to remove the bandage and saw the IV catheter was still in his leg!!! I called VCA repeatedly, only to be forwarded to voicemail. I then called two different emergency vets. Blue Pearl had a waiting time of 8 hours, and recommended I call a different vet for removal. They both recommended I immediately get the IV catheter removed by a vet/tech. This negligence forced my poor dog to be subjected to visiting a second vet for this removal. He should’ve been resting after surgery, not enduring all of this! I finally received a call from them the next morning. I spoke with their office manager Lisa, as well as Kari, a vet tech. Kari called me from her cell phone to inform me that she was the one responsible for not checking to make sure everything was okay, before sending Cookie home. I found this all so unprofessional, and I no longer feel comfortable taking Cookie to VCA. They offer no after hours assistance, even in situations like this, where they were still in the building when I called repeatedly one to two minutes after closing hours. I was given compensation for the emergency vet visit, but this entire situation was very distressing. This review is not based on my experience with Dr. Vala. I am very thankful Cookie’s surgery was successful, but I will not be returning after this experience.
