- JDJerome DavisDec 27, 20251.0I had a very poor experience with Cricket’s device locking policy while traveling abroad. This was not about switching carriers or using a foreign SIM. I simply wanted to use basic, non-cellular functionality (Wi-Fi access and the alarm clock) on a phone I owned and had fully paid for. Despite escalating to the Office of the President and filing an FCC complaint, Cricket repeatedly ignored this distinction and continued to assume foreign SIM usage that never occurred. No exception was offered, and the core issue was never addressed. If you buy a phone from Cricket, assume it may not function normally as a standalone device during travel until the full six-month requirement is met. I strongly recommend buying unlocked or choosing another carrier.
