- JJJackie JoySep 10, 20251.0There are many things I could say about VCA in Hollywood, MD but I'm trying to keep my blood pressure down! If you have deep pockets then go to VCA, if you don't have deep pockets and you really want the vet to care about your pet then take them to Tidewater in Charlotte Hall! I paid $900 for blood work, pee, and a sonogram then they wanted to do survey which would cost $6k-$9k at the VCA (they want to remove masses). Went to Tidewater and they did the same test for $280 and surgery would be $1k (didn't want to touch the masses because of age). They really care for your pet and your wallet! VCA is corporate-owned meaning their prices are higher, and since they are corporate there's normally a lot of pressure on the staff to upsell services contributing to higher prices!!! Always get a second opinion if you go to VCA!

Ask the vet, Kara Blankenship, to check a small lump that had been checked previously on my dog hip because it appeared to have grown. Three times she couldn’t remember what I told her About growing over the last year and that it had Checked before. She couldn’t tell me what it was only that it was pliable and was small but for $80 she would stick a needle it. I felt as though they only cared about my dog if there was money involved. They had no common sense to give.

I love the new VCA Care Access Plan which allows me to pay $20 per month and then not have to pay the large exam fees whenever my seniors have to come in - which is quite often. All of the staff are very efficient and caring. Worth the drive over the bridge for me. : )
