I wish I could give it a -1 (negative 1) rating because they did nothing but wasted my time! I took my iPad to the Apple store in the Mall in Columbia, MD for repair. My iPad does not turn on. The guy I met there asked what was wrong with it, and I said it won't turn on! He told me that I needed to make an appointment, and he made one for me. He also found that my iPad's warranty is expired (using a code in the the back of my iPad). Now when I showed up couple of days later for that appointment with my iPad, I met a different guy. He asked me the same question, and as soon as I told him the iPad won't turn on, he said they cannot fix an iPad that does not turn on! I was a bit frustrated and asked why did not the other guy tell me same thing instead of making the appointment? It does not make any sense! He said that he was sorry for that, and I walked away from the store being upset! And they call themselves "Genius Bar" - what a joke! I would rather call them a "Crap Bar" for wasting my time!

I am very disappointed with the service at this location. I dropped off my laptop for a repair and was quoted a 3-5 business day period for return via mail. On my delivery date, the tracker indicated that the device hadn’t yet arrived to the repair location, let alone been assessed, repaired, or shipped back.
I have spent 3hr + on the phone with 5 different Apple support advisors, none of whom can get someone at the store on the phone to help with a solution (is it actually still at the store? Can I go retrieve it? loaner laptop? update?)…over 12 attempted phone calls at all different times of day.
No solution but to wait for this location to contact me. What was once the pleasurable bardo of Christmas/New Year turns from vacation to waiting… is this not the ailment of our time? Empty space is filled with the tyranny of checking, the addictive pull of notifications, and the silence of my break becomes bare anticipation of my next debate with Apple support. And yes, I learned the word bardo from the acclaimed Apple TV+ program “Severance”—in which, of course, the protagonist cannot get through to a real person in the maze of a seamless corporation.
I would never have agreed to let go of my device if there was any indication the repair estimate was so rough. Like many, I work from my laptop, and delayed repair with no certain return date is a huge issue. I cannot work. Is this not the true predicament of “Severance”? Not that the characters experience too severe a separation between life and work, such that, for the “innie,” life is only work, but that rather that the innies never truly work at all? That they cannot work except for Apple? That any work outside of Apple will soon be consumed by it? That this is the result of our tools (and, one might say, attention) being severed from us, disappearing into the forest of signs that is the Apple ecosystem? Like Adam Scott in severance, I work in academia and education, and like him, my labor time has been diverted to mysterious ends. Adam Scott cannot work, and he cannot live.
And my life-time as well becomes an endless reservoir of long phone calls with Apple Support, who can do nothing but make unanswered calls to the store. How does Adam Scott fix this problem? He doesn’t. He chooses to enjoy being severed.
So I suppose I’ll meet my soulmate on my calls with Apple Support? Or at some point I’ll start enjoying these calls enough that I’ll never want my laptop back?
Such are the questions I ask myself. Plus, “why is there no 0-Star rating option”?

the customer service here was poor. workers at this store do not care to help you in a timely manner. my dad and i had picked out what we wanted and had to wait for an hour. we ended up walking out of the store to buy online because the service was so awful. the workers knew we were waiting and did not send anyone to check us out. they were not understaffed at all, we were told there was only one worker available to help us at the apple watch station, but then watched as another worker came over to help the first one. on top of that, the workers were rude. i understand that the holidays can be busy, but my dad and i were extremely patient and were met with condescending tones. i will not be coming to this apple store again.

Unprofessional Manager (they said his name is Dan, not sure): I went to return the iPad which was partial paid using gift card. One inexperienced associated basically told me that if you pay with gift card then you will be losing the gift card. This did not sound right hence I asked him to get some one who is more familiar, he brought some one called Dan (not sure is this right name, he was reluctant to give his name) after explaining the situation, he was able to refund the amount. After the transaction I said to the junior associate that you don't have to lose the gift card thats this Dan guy started not necessary to say to him etc., I never had this kind of experience in Apple store they are always polite but, this guy needs some training or needs to be fired.

Customer service has taken a significant hit. I waited for 30 minutes for my appointment, only to be greeted by a customer service representative who immediately suggested a $50 Apple charger, even before she had diagnosed my issue. I was using an Anker charger, a reputable brand, and I believe Apple sells some of its products. This reminded me of my time working for Best Buy over a decade ago, where we were encouraged to sell overpriced HDMI cords to every customer who wanted to buy a TV. Best Buy was a struggling retail electronics company. I’m not sure what Apple’s justification for this behavior is.
When she finally ran the diagnostics, she constantly left while loading the device and then made us wait another 5 minutes before running another diagnostic. Each test probably took less than 2 minutes. This doesn’t mean she wasn’t working; she certainly was, and she was constantly taking products off the shelf to upsell customers who were looking to have their devices fixed. All the other agents were also busy advising every single customer to buy new devices instead of having their old ones fixed. Pathetic
