I cannot say enough good things about the surgical and surgical oncology department at VCA Weymouth. Both of our dogs have had mast cell tumors in complicated locations and have been treated compassionately, promptly and thoroughly with excellent follow-up. They have always done their best to get us in as soon as possible and are very transparent with their treatment plan. For example, one of my dogs had a mass near the base of their tail and we really did not want to remove the tail unless we absolutely had to. Dr. Snell took the time to work with us to create a treatment plan in which we could spare the tail and was always available for questions/concerns. The department calls back immediately and checks in on you as well post-operatively. When you drop your dog off, they give consistent updates throughout the day and then the surgeon will call you with how the procedure went as well. As soon as the path report comes back, they promptly call and go through it with you with recommendations for next steps. Recently, we unfortunately discovered a mass on one of my younger dogs and were able to get an appointment within 48 hours and because they had a cancellation, were able to get my dog into surgery that day after the consultation. I have never seen healthcare work that quickly and am very grateful to Dr. Snell and Dr. Diamond and all of the staff at VCA. I cannot recommend them enough, especially after all my positive experiences with them over the last two years. They are incredible and extremely knowledgable and skilled. I will point out that they also have some of the new treatments as well that you may not be able to find in other places such as electrochemotherapy which we did need for one of my dogs. It is nice to be at a facility that has multiple disciplines (re: oncology, surgical oncology, surgery, internal medicine specialties, etc) for coordination of care and it is worth the 1 hour drive that we make to come here.

My gf and I brought our dog in because he wasn’t pooping for us. We had to take him to the ER department, everyone seem friendly and helpful so far. After the vet left, she sent someone into the room to discuss on an estimate for us. We was left between doing a CT scan vs. Radiographs. This “receptionist or technician” named Teddy K. Was really rude and showed us no sympathy in the situation. My gf and I were really upset with the whole situation because financially we couldn’t do it.. we tried to come up with a solution on what would be best for our fur baby. This teddy guy pushed and rushed us into making the decision quick “because we were wasting and delaying the doctors time” and that we “drove” all this way for nothing if we didn’t end up making the decision upon the estimates he’s given us. My gf wanted to have him ask the doctor if she could ask few more questions and he still claims we are delaying the process and “wasting” more time I was furious of the situation of how this guy talked to us. It just upsets me that we were both upset and crying and he wasn’t showing any sympathy so Yea we aren’t a fan of the service that night because that night was really rough for us. Due to financial reasons we almost had to put our dog down too. Someone needs to review this guy and see how he talks to his clients because this was not OK. Overall besides that person, everyone else seems fine and proficient.

Doctor's are good, but be prepared to spend your entire day there (and lose most of your night). Brought my dog in for an xray at 11am and at 330pm I was told I could go home and they'd call at 7:30pm when he was ready. After no call by 9:30pm I called them and they had no timeline for when he'd be ready. Basically on standby for an indeterminate amount of time. They thought it was odd that I didn't want to be called to pick him up at 1am so I got charged a few hundred for them to keep him overnight.

I've been here several times for both specialty and emergency services, and I've been satisfied every time. The large facility is clean and well organized. The vets and staff have been kind, knowledgeable and professional. Communications have been clear. Care has been compassionate and helpful. Check-in and check-out has been efficient. The prices are reasonable for a specialty/emergency hospital. I'm glad to have them nearby.

I have a new puppy and this was my first visit to this vet. We won’t be retuning. The facility looks beautiful from the outside and that’s about it. The check in process was unfriendly with the receptionist not even leaving her chair. We waited 25 minutes past our scheduled appointment to be escorted in by an unenthusiastic and somewhat morose vet tech. The tech didn’t even greet or pet my puppy and failed to read her file before trying to get her temperature. The vet, Dr. Cristina Stella, came in and was genuinely warm and caring for my puppy however she seemed to be in a bit of a rush and made it clear she was leaving the practice May 1st. After the vet left the room, the tech finished up some paperwork and said they’d meet me out front and walked out of the room. I felt abandoned; left to navigate my way out of a place I didn’t know. We were sent to the wrong check out counter, given the wrong medication, and dealt with yet another unenthusiastic and morose person. Once we finally got the correct medication, We couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Growing up I had many dogs and raised and trained a guide dog puppy. I consider myself an informed consumer and good pet parent. I also have a cat. While I did not necessarily worry about the care my puppy received on this visit, I would not trust them alone with my pet and did not walk away feeling good.
