My first visit here.... Staff and Doctor are very professional and caring, but I definitely had major "sticker shock". $300 for the first visit for my new kitten. And I still have to get her booster shots and neutered. Being a good Samaritan to a stray is definitely not cheap. It cost me only $10 to adopt a cat at the Humane Society that was already neutered and had all its shots!! There ought to be some subsidies or discount for people taking in strays on the street and giving them a home.

Expensive but good for a yearly visit, but they won't see you in a timely manor if any issues occur. Twice in the last 6 years I've called to be seen for a non-wellness visit (once for a large but not deep abrasion, and recently for a new onset cough). Both times I was told to go to an emergent care office because they were too booked to make an appointment within 3 weeks. Neither issues were emergencies that warranted the astronomical cost of an ER visit, but they did merit a check in with the vet we established care with. I had to consult Dr. Google, and the abrasion healed before the 3 weeks was up, but it seems absolutely inappropriate that this practice overbooks appointments to the point that you cannot be seen if an incident occurs.
Of note, both times this occurred, i was confusingly assured that they always set aside times to work in non-wellness visits, yet somehow things are still booked out by 3 weeks. Oh, I'm also welcome to call everyday to see if there has been a cancelation.
I don't have an expectation to be seen within 24 hours (within a week should be reasonable), but I have never heard of a practice that punts you to the ER for a visit that should be done at the vets office.

We were visiting Louisville and needed some urgent care, plus a second opinion, for our 14 year old standard poodle. VCA folks were careful, patient, kind, and comprehensive. Great “bedside manners.” Plus, efficient and affordable. We left with a manageable care plan and some confidence. They would certainly be our home vet if we lived in town. Thank you!

I've been going to Fairleigh for at least 15 years and for a long time I was very happy. Dr. Zimmer was wonderful, and then she left. We also loved Dr. McGill, and then she left. Recently I took my dog in because she'd been lethargic and not eating, and we saw Dr. Rainey. Dr. Rainey did an x-ray, which revealed a mass in my dog's abdomen. She referred us to a specialty vet for an ultrasound.
The speciality vet did an ultrasound on Monday and confirmed that my dog had a mass on her spleen and that she needed to have a splenectomy urgently. It wasn't an emergency, but splenic masses can rupture and quickly cause death, so it needed to get done quickly. The specialty vet said they could do the surgery but quoted me an absolutely absurd price for it. They encouraged me to call Fairleigh to see if they could do it more affordably.
Tuesday morning I called Fairleigh and they confirmed that they had received the report from the specialty vet. I asked for Dr. Rainey (or a tech -- just *someone*) to call me back to discuss the situation. No one calls. I call Wednesday and am told Dr. Rainey is out of the office but will call me on Thursday. Meanwhile, a friend of mine who works for another vet gets me set up for a splenectomy at their clinic. Thursday passes and no one from Fairleigh calls.
It's now Friday night. My dog is home from her splenectomy, performed by a vet who was completely unknown to us until yesterday. (Shout out to Dr. Brown at Hopewell Animal Hospital for recognizing the urgency of the situation and working us in -- you're a literal angel!) I still haven't heard from anyone at Fairleigh.
I'm really deeply disappointed by this experience. This was an extremely stressful situation with a lot of complicating factors (the mass may or may not be cancerous, the dog is kind of old, the procedure is expensive) and I really wanted to talk through it with my vet, or at least with a vet tech on my vet's behalf. I feel that Fairleigh let us down when we really needed them. I'm planning to continue to going to Hopewell from now on.
