The entire staff is great, but Dr. Erwin primarily sees my dog with chronic allergy issues. The care my dog receives from her and the vet nurses is exceptional. Even with a packed schedule, Dr. Erwin never appears rushed and she’s always looking for new ways to help my dog. We’re very grateful for the VCA team!

Dr. Erwin & her entire staff are amazing. I’m a paramedic and they are the true heros. They care for patients that can’t give a chief complaint, can’t give a pain score & want to hurt the ones trying to help them. My cat suffered a traumatic fall resulting in a nasty femur fracture and a subsequent amputation. The care that he received was above and beyond. I will be forever grateful for the entire team here at Lafayette VCA. Thank you for all you do. You are my heros. I wish I could give you 10 stars❤️

One of the most heartbreaking things in the world is to have to face losing a beloved pet. My cat had gotten sick and had been crying every couple of hours so I called and made an appointment and they told me it was free since I was new. I got there about 10 or 15 minutes late, but I did call ahead of time to let them know. Both receptionists were on the phone when I got there and made me wait an additional five minutes instead of putting a call on hold to check me in. Then they told me they couldn’t see me because it was too late. They said they could reschedule for Urgent Care but I said I could not afford that extra charge. So she asked if I could come at 1:30 and I said yes. When talking to the tech, I had to tell her not once or twice, but three times that my cat was only drinking water and not eating. She repeatedly asked me the same question, forgetting I’d already answered. She also weighed my cat and said that she weighed 5 kg and said that was 12 pounds. (I went to a second vet and my cat only weighed 5 pounds.) Not sure how she made that mistake. She did say several times that they are understaffed and she’d had so many patients already that morning, that’s why she was getting confused. After the exam, they wrote up a treatment, and I asked to see it only to find out they charged me for urgent care which was almost $200! I told them that I would not pay that since they said this appointment was free and I had not agreed to an urgent care charge. They did remove that charge. I asked what the cost would be to euthanize my cat and they said $210 so I said I couldn’t afford that and was going to look for lower prices (there are several who offer lower prices). I was crying during most of this appointment. After I left, I called back because I forgot to ask the doctor to check her blood pressure and they said that would be an additional $75. So I said thanks and goodbye. I couldn’t afford that. Shay had the audacity to call me right back (knowing I’m going to have to euthanize my pet) to tell me that they wouldn’t have me as a client anymore because I was “unprofessional.” I cried basically the whole time I was there and not a kind word was spoken. I was not rude, I was holding back my tears and it was hard to keep from crying. I was speaking softly and multiple times they didn’t hear what I was saying so I would have to repeat myself louder. If you look at their other reviews, I’m not the only one to have had an experience like this. Do not come here. I ended up going to West Lafayette Veterinary Care and they were kind, compassionate, and they were very detailed and careful in everything they did. I absolutely do not recommend VCA Lafayette. I spoke to other veterinarian hospitals about what happened and they told me they had heard the same thing about them.
