    Came in looking for phone assistance. I had to ask where an item was. The associate to me there then walked away. Didn't ask if I needed any other assistance or if I had questions. Cashier was sitting in a chair wouldn't even stand up to ring the purchase. She didn't ask if I wanted to use my best buy card or even ask to put the purchase on my reward points. Best Buy is just not what it was. If you are going to have staff that act as robots just replace them with AI and cut the labor.

    Title: Why I No Longer Purchase Appliances from Best Buy As a restaurant owner, I value reliability and honesty in business. However, an experience I had two years ago with Best Buy permanently shifted my loyalty to Sam’s Club and Costco. I am sharing this to provide an honest account of my experience. The Incident: Failed Installation (Order #1124103304301) I purchased a dishwasher from Best Buy for my staff apartment. The installation process was highly frustrating: Inaccurate Technical Advice: Two separate installation teams refused to install the unit. The first team claimed I needed a new faucet, and after I replaced it, the second team claimed the water pipes also needed replacing. The Reality: After being told the unit couldn't be installed, a personal acquaintance checked the setup and installed the dishwasher perfectly without changing any pipes. It has worked flawlessly ever since. Unearned Charges: Best Buy charged me for installation and haul-away services that were never actually performed. The Dispute: Inaccurate Records When I requested a credit for these unrendered services, Best Buy denied it, citing a "90-day policy." More concerning was that their internal records falsely claimed the installation was "Completed." As someone who maintains accurate records for my own business, I found it unacceptable to be charged for work that wasn't done based on an incorrect system entry. It felt as though my integrity was being questioned when I was simply stating the facts. The Comparison: Sam’s Club & Costco Following this, I purchased additional appliances (a dishwasher and a laundry machine) for my staff apartments from Sam’s Club and Costco. The difference was significant: Both companies provided professional and straightforward installation teams. The jobs were completed perfectly on the first visit. The customer service was transparent and respectful. Final Verdict Based on this experience, I have moved all my appliance purchases away from Best Buy. I prefer to do business where the service records are accurate and the installation teams are reliable. If you are looking for a hassle-free experience, I recommend considering other options.

    Do not purchase appliances from Best Buy! We have purchased a refrigerator and dishwasher in the last 3 weeks and have had MULTIPLE issues where they have given us broken appliances and did not hook up the water line to our dishwasher before attaching it under our counter. The only resolution is for us continue giving up our time for additional installs.. Who has time for this? After spending close to $5k for broken, scratched up appliances/incorrect installs, we will never spend another dime in this store! Edited to add: after messaging best buy on their social media as suggested and contacting their customer service, the only resolution Best Buy wants to offer is to schedule additional installation dates or for them to just pick up merchandise for a full refund. For this not being our fault, they definitely have treated us as of we are the problem.

    This is not necessarily a review of the Lafayette location, because I assume the ridiculousness they tried to pitch me comes from corporate , but reviewing BB corp isn’t an option. I went in to buy a laptop for my Purdue freshman. We settled on a lower priced one because he has both PC & IPad, but he needs a Microsoft laptop to do what needs to be done in chemistry. The laptop after tax was $999. A guy who I assumed was a manager comes up and says “oh this laptop qualifies for our price match guarantee, research our on line sales and if this laptop goes on sale, we will refund you the difference.” I was like “oh wow that’s really nice , thanks for letting me know.” Then he shows me this pamphlet that their ‘price match guarantee’ costs me $49.99!! I said “wait, you want to charge me $50, for me to search your ads for sales and will only price match, if it does go on sale, if I give you $50???” “Yes”. I almost told him where he could stick his guarantee. At the end of the guarantee “pitch” that did nothing but upset me, we find out the laptop we did chose was out of stock (which is another constant disappointment by BB). Options were get it shipped out to campus house in 2 days (which it didn’t have a signature requirement- so $1000 equipment just getting left outside for Lord knows what could happen), OR we could have it shipped to the store where we could pick it up in TEN DAYS!!! I said just ship it here like you’re going to in campus thru fed ex instead of whatever transfer crap you’re doing. Of course, they didn’t understand that concept. I almost went to Wal-Mart and I wish I would’ve. Best Buy employees are not any better than Walmarts electronic department employees and I would’ve paid less. When we bought the IPad; the dude said Excel works on IPad just like Microsoft laptops and he found out the hard way that was not the case!! That was close to a $1500 purchase. Everytime I go to Best Buy, I’m disappointed. Every time. I know it’s not going to hurt BB business when I never come back, but I will never go back to another BB.
