In the past two months, our beloved Lily has had her eye removed and undergone radiation for treatment of cancer. She was at VCA two days ago for another MRI prior to starting Palladia for further treatment of her cancer. The day prior to the MRI, the oncologist informed us that the scab remaining over the eye surgery would soon drop off and there was a "hole" remaining where the eye was removed. I asked the oncologist if that would likely become infected, and she said that it would not She failed to mention to us that being unable to stand or walk was a known side effect of the drug she sent home with us. It didn't take long for us to learn that was a significant omission. This morning (less than 48 hours after being seen at VCA) there was bleeding from the area where her eye had been removed and she could not stand. At that time she had not eaten for more than 48 hours. We rushed her to VCA where we were told--only after asking--she would not be seen for "3 to 5 hours." We were not made aware of that when we called VCA to say we were on our way there. Upon our arrival, the front desk clerk was rude, demanding only to know if we wanted to continue "the DNR" status. Initially I couldn't understand what she meant. I'm very disturbing terms, she reminded me about the meaning of "DNR." We left immediately after being asked if we still wanted to "let her die" and went directly to VEG (Veterinary Emergency Group) in Nora. Immediately upon our arrival, the VEG team began a triage of Lily. It was determined that she had an infection where the eye was removed and a UTI. We and Lily were treated with so much warmth, compassion, and care at VEG. We now have Lily at home with antibiotics and medication to soothe her stomach issues caused by the Palladia. She is still unable to stand. Had we stayed at VCA, we would not even been seen yet. For emergency care, head to VEG rather than VCA. In fact, head anywhere but to VCA for anything. They won't even clean up their own messes.

Took my cat here after an emergency urinary blockage. They saw him right away and were very friendly. They are very expensive but rather than pressuring me to use them, they were very up front with the cost and even recommended another emergency vet that was more cost effective nearby. Even though I decided not to use them, they waived my appointment fee and only had me pay for the pain medication they put my cat on. Not only that, but they also followed up with a phone call the next day to see how he was doing. Really classy and compassionate place!

On December 31st 2025, I went to let my mother-in-law’s boxer, Bodie, out to use the bathroom. Bodie suffered from pancreatitis. Upon entering her home, Bodie had vomited so much inside and outside his crate. When I left him out, he immediately went outside and started vomiting more. I quickly put his harness on him and helped him into my car. We drove straight to VCA. I arrived and was checked in at 12:15pm. A tech came and spoke with me at 12:30pm and took Bodie to the kennels. I WAITED for 6.5 hours. I finally went to the desk and told them I had been there for 6.5 hours. The receptionist called to the back, spoke with a technician, and said that they were seeing critical patients only and the wait would be longer. They did not deem Bodie critical. At that point, I asked for Bodie to be brought to the front. The tech commented that “he hadn’t vomited or had diarrhea since being in the kennels.” As soon as we went outside, he had diarrhea. I took him back home and told my mother-in-law I would pick him up in the morning and take him back to VCA to be seen again. I did have to take him back to VCA the next morning to be cremated, because he died overnight.

Worst place to ever go to — took my cat in for sudden onset of labored breathing and general discomfort. He was taken back and a nurse came to us 30 min later to inform us his vitals looked fine and there was no major concern. We then waited 2 1/2 hours in the exam room without a single person coming in. We the went to the front desk to check the wait as we were quoted 1-2 hours. The front desk was annoyed and said they would call. Our cats condition started to worsen and we then had to get front desk again…. Surprise they were not the nicest. The doctor finally came in after another 20-30 minutes and mumbled all her words. Stating he needed an x-ray but they were expensive there and she did not recommend getting it done. He either had feline asthma or a heart condition. Got told we could check out and waited another 45 min to receive our kitten and pay. And btw we paid $300 for a shitty exam, and one small “asthma” injection for him. Absolutely ridiculous - they didn’t even care to offer us carecredit or talk about it those options. DO NOT RECOMMEND - please take your animal to MedVet (he got treated right away/emergency triaged unlike VCA and cared about us, our animal, and the price we paid/what we had to pay)

I don't have enough words to express my gratitude for VCA Advanced. They have taken care of multiple of our animals and each one they have done exceptional work for. The ER doctors and Dr. Price with Internal Medicine have given our sweet boy Javier a chance at a longer life. Dr. Jost has preserved our Mr Peabodys vision. Dr. Distefano has helped our Russell with his cancer journey. Dr. Tobias and Dr. Vecchio have worked on our animals for surgery. Every single doctor has explained things in a way that is easy to understand and are always willing to answer any question that we have. The techs are always so friendly and helpful. And the front desk staff are so kind and easy to talk to. I feel so comfortable leaving our beloved animals with everyone at AVCC. We are beyond grateful for this clinic.
