  I had to put my 13 1/2 year old female Akita to rest. The hard part was I was having surgery the day after. The vet and the vet tech (im sorry I can't remember their names) were wonderful. I was crying like a baby. I really give them alot of credit because it's hard to have to even witness all that emotion for them. They are good people.

  The place and staff were nice but my dog ended up testing positive for giardia, a parasite. They called to tell me, showed not much concern and didn’t prescribe me any medication to aid it. All they told me was to keep things at home clean, but my dog was super sick and they didn’t think to take any action or see her again. I brought my dog to a vet closer to us and had her tested again. She tested positive for giardia AND hookworm which they didn’t catch. The other vet was super concerned as to why VCA didn’t chose to prescribe anything and gave us meds right away plus a time frame to come back for another check up. Mind you, I only came here because we received a “free” voucher from where we adopted our dog from, it’s not completely free but they don’t tell you that of course.

  Could not have asked for a better place to work with us and our dog’s complex needs. We’ve been treated with kindness and compassion from start to finish. Shoutout to Amanda and Dr. Ulrich, find a good vet team and stick with them bc we couldn’t have gone through half of what we went through without VCA

  INJURED MY ANIMAL. My Chihuahua had an appointment for an ultrasound (no grooming). The ultrasound went well but long story short...during the procedure one of his claws was completely ripped off down to the pad. The staff did not tell me of the incident. They packed the injury with QuickStop and sent him home hoping I wouldn't notice. I called them right away once I noticed the bleeding (it soaked through the QuickStop). Their actions resulted in an emergency visit back to the vet, weeks of medication (for pain and infection), bandaging, and a dog cone. I told the clinic I would only pay 65% of the original bill and asked them to write off the rest for the pain and suffering they’d put me and my tiny dog through. Their response...turned me into collections for the remaining balance. Accidents happen. I wouldn't have written a poor review just for an accident...had they done the right thing. Will not be taking my animals to this clinic again.

  I've been bringing my pets to see Dr Carmichael and his associates since 1992, or so, when we moved out to McHenry County. I cannot begin to tell you how grateful we are to Dr. C. and all his staff for the care we have received over the years. 8 huskys, 1 lab mix and 2 cats. They are always there when we need them. Mutual respect, low turn over, great general care as well as crisis' averted as much as possible when there is something brewing. Glad to have them as part if our team.
