I cannot even begin to describe how glad I am to have found your practice! In a world where most vets make you feel like you and your fur babies are just another cash grab, coming here has felt like a refreshing new start. Everything is very transparent, including pricing—which is sadly not the norm somehow—and there is an actual acknowledgement and respect for cats from everyone! Both dogs and cats have a separate entrance and waiting room and there’s also a bin with calming blankets in case your kitty is feeling anxious. Everyone has always been very kind and helpful. I’m sad for not even having found out about the concept of fear-free practices earlier but ultimately, I’m so thankful for you for providing us with real help and solutions. I can only hope others follow your example!

I scheduled my dog for euthanasia and when I arrived they did not have the plan set up, were asking me to wait, then to wait in a room "set up" on the 1st floor where normal treatments happen, then told me that that was the room the dog would be transitioned from, though it was supposed to be in a separate wing on a separate floor where you do not encounter other people or dogs It was painful, confusing, and so disrespectful. I left with my dog and will not return to them for any future treatments for any future animals. I called and became increasingly upset as the "supervisor" used corporate euphemisms such as, "your misunderstandings", "sorry your perception was...", to deny responsibility for the careless, disorganized, and inappropriate situation and behavior. I have been taking my dogs there for 35 years - since the change in the ownership to private corporate ownership I will never trust them with my animals again.

I’m not one to typically write reviews but thought this one was worth sharing. Our dog got gastroenteritis and we took her in for a sick visit. We saw Dr. Sheehan who was absolutely wonderful. She really listened when obtaining our dog’s history. She gave us multiple treatment options based on her lab results. She didn’t pressure us either way and let us form our decision as to how to proceed. She was very thorough, patient, and friendly to our dog who can be very nervous at the vet! Thank you Dr. Sheehan! Also Tanner, our vet tech, was so great with Sammy. Highly recommend VCA Blum!

Blum has become our most trusted vet in Chicagoland. Our dog had multiple medical issues and every single person in the clinic always took us seriously and supported us through it. When it was time to say goodbye, the clinic got us in same day and let us take as much time as we needed. When our veterinarian returned from maternity leave months later, we received a hand written card sharing her condolences. I have never received nor seen such sincere care. When my husband and I moved to the suburbs, we continued to drive to Blum for years knowing that our dog would be cared for exceptionally. Highly recommend.
