Would have been higher but associate did not add my name to order. Purchased a laptop from this location with a pickup in Champaign. I was with my wife for this purchase and I was the one who confirmed the order. Apparently they have a prompt to add others for pick up I was not aware I was not on it. He did not ask me if I wanted to be on it either I go to Champaign and that location was not going to let me pick up because I was not an authorized person on the sale. I had the original receipt I also had the confirmation number as a text I had ID with same address as primary As well as the card used to make the purchase Picking it was frustratingly difficult because of this. Made me feel like she thought I was trying to steal this item was not thrilled by this

I am writing  this REVIEW as a formal report of a deeply disturbing experience I had at the Bradley, IL Best Buy on January 22, 2026 at approximately 11:00 AM. I have been a loyal Geek Squad member for nearly ten years and am a professional who owns multiple businesses; however, I was treated with a level of disrespect that I can only attribute to racial bias. "Upon entering the store, I was immediately shadowed by the Service Manager, Steve, who followed me from the front door to the Geek Squad counter as if I were under surveillance. Despite my repeated, clear requests for him to leave me alone, he persisted in confronting me and remained 'in my face. Spouting off this is the way Best Buy is doing business now. (I'm thinking to myself I hope not because this is a bad business model). If Best Buy is getting this much business and can afford to have their loyal long time customers accosted/verbally assaulted in their stores. I'm sure they don't need any more of my business. I refuse to be treated in any other fashion than a mature adult spending my hard-earned money.  It was only my hopes or intentions to maybe look at some other items that I needed for my offices after asking a quick question in which I was deterred from doing.  When I attempted to ask a simple status update on a repair that was already two weeks overdue, Steve refused to even hear the question. Instead, he insisted I book an appointment for 12:45 PM—forcing a nearly two-hour wait just to speak. When I requested to speak with the Store Manager, he insisted that he was the guy to talk too and doubled down on this rigid gatekeeping, prioritizing bureaucracy over basic professional courtesy and making it clear that my time and presence were not respected." The interaction felt pointedly exclusionary; as an African American man, it was clear that my presence was viewed as a disruption rather than a valued patronage. When I challenged Steve on why he wouldn't even ask what my question was—noting that a white customer likely would have been afforded that basic courtesy—he offered the defensive and cliché excuse that he "couldn't be prejudiced" because his father-in-law is Black. This dismissive rhetoric only highlighted his lack of professional awareness. It was so bad that there was a third Geek Squad associate waiting on a young lady both Caucasian and they did not even acknowledge he and I's conversation as loud as I had gotten hoping to deter Steve's bad behavior. The situation was only de-escalated when a Geeks Squad associate recognized me or overheard our allowed conversation. And it was him who lowered the temperature, and simply grabbed my file to provide the answer I needed in seconds. I thank God for this young man's professionalism because by this time I'm steaming hot. I didn't come into this store for this type of treatment. Steve was trying to talk to me like I was a three-year-old child with no sense of due process.  Because of Steve’s ego and the his refusal to provide me with basic common courtesy, Best Buy has lost my immediate business and future purchases. I expect a response from the corporate regarding how this location is being coached on unconscious bias and customer retention.
