Our Origins
We are proud to say that Bray Chiropody and Podiatry is a 100% Irish, female and family owned and run business that has its roots firmly set in Bray since 1985.
The business was originally created and built from the ground-up by Monica Acton who started the business from her home, and then expanded it to a clinic in Quinsboro Road, and finally settled in Florence Road where she worked for over 20 years.
In 2008 her daughter, Joanne Makarus BSc Pod., MPI., took over the helm and has taken-up where Monica left-off. Since then, with the support a world-class team at her side, the clinic has gone from strength to strength.
Our CORU registered Podiatrists have now treated over 11,000 patients since then, added countless treatments, services and assessment types and look forward to adding many more as the business continues to grow and support the community that supports it.
We also accept HSE Chiropody Cards
HSE Chiropody Cards provide subsidised podiatry care for individuals aged 65 and over who hold a full medical card. With this card, patients are entitled to up to eight subsidised visits over a two-year period, helping to make essential foot care more accessible. In extenuating circumstances, individuals under 65 with a full medical card may also qualify by applying through their GP or consultant. Additionally, those with At-Risk feet — such as individuals with diabetic foot complications etc — can apply for additional visits beyond the standard allowance through their GP or consultant. If you believe you may be eligible, speak with your GP to explore your options.
