Applied Kinesiology is a chiropractic system of analysis and treatment that uses resistive muscle testing to identify functional problems in your spine and body. It is utilised by Dr. Mitchell as an adjunct to general chiropractic care in order to provide a more accurate understanding of what corrections need to be made.

The most common form of arthritis is osteoarthritis, which is a "wear and tear" condition usually caused by years of heavy lifting, poor posture or repeated injury. An X-ray of the spine may often show signs of this condition as we age - thinning, degenerated discs with excess bony growths (osteophytes). However, it does not have to be painful. It is the misalignment of the vertebra over time that wears down the disc, irritates the nerve and causes the pain. Realigning the vertebra with chiropractic care removes the nerve entrapment and pain, and reduces the excess pressure on the discs. ​ Other forms of arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis, are auto-immune diseases. There is no known cure for them, but chiropractic treatment often eases the pain associated with them.
