I dropped the device off at the Merry hill branch, and left the store whilst I waited for it to be inspected. A short while later I received a call from someone I guess was the manager. He informed me that my device would have to be downgraded to a cat B as there was a mark on the plug. This would result in a value of £415….. What a joke. So £81 less for a mark on the plug ? A USB C plug worth around £10… see if you can spot the £81 mark … A total waste of time. I guess they wanted to make a huge profit at my expense. I should’ve listened. Needless to say I didn’t sell.. save your time and learn from my mistake.
- SMsam malikAug 26, 20261.0Absolute disgrace of a store. I’ve been a loyal CeX member for years and used stores all over, but the staff at Merry Hill are by far the worst. Brought my phone in and was told to return in 2 hours for testing. When I went back, one staff member tried to claim the proximity sensor wasn't working. When I proved to him on the spot that it worked perfectly, he abruptly brushed me off, said he was "too busy," and dumped me on another till. The second guy then made up a completely fake excuse claiming a "tiny gap in the back case" (which didn't exist) just to refuse taking the phone entirely. Pure laziness to avoid doing their job, paired with an awful, rude, and unwelcoming attitude. Management needs to look into who they're hiring here. Ended up selling the phone elsewhere with zero issues for more than CeX's original quote. Save your time and avoid this branch.
