  I recently tried CeX’s “Drop & Go” service and have to congratulate the store for managing to make selling items significantly less convenient than simply walking in and waiting. When I dropped my items off, the staff confidently told me they’d be tested and paid for by the end of the day. Fantastic, that’s exactly what you’d expect from something called “Drop & Go”. 6pm came and went. Then the evening continued with the same thrilling level of communication: absolutely none. So the next day I popped back in to see what had happened. This turned out to be a great opportunity to observe the team in their natural habitat - standing behind the counter chatting amongst themselves while collectively trying to work out why the items hadn’t been tested. Eventually someone returned with the helpful explanation: “You don’t need to come back in for Drop & Go orders.” That’s reassuring, except for the minor detail that nobody had contacted me to say anything was happening. The real genius of the system is that Drop & Go appears to be slower than just doing a normal walk-in sale, where the items are typically tested straight away and you get paid about an hour later. With Drop & Go you instead get the added excitement of waiting indefinitely, wondering whether anything is actually happening, and potentially making a second trip to the store. If the goal was to design a service that adds unnecessary delay, zero communication, and mild confusion to a process that already worked perfectly well, then CeX have absolutely nailed it. Perhaps they should rename it “drop and maybe have to come back if they can’t be bothered to actually test your stuff” - catchy?

  If I could I would give half a star, because I don't know what laws this store operates under because I bought a product from them and paid for it with cash or card and when I went to return it they gave me back the voucher, as if they were forcing me to buy everything from them with this voucher. In another vein, some of the products in this store are second-hand and are more expensive than new ones from other stores.

  Possibly the worst customer service in the world try sell a phone it was in perfect condition yet they would not take it. Thanks to a weird member of staff with blue hair with lip pirceings looked very scary and hostile, said it was bent when it clearly wasn't it was basically brand new as a unwanted gift. Went in before try buy a game o sorry we can't find it same member of staff again! Very unapproachable, Also bought a gaming wheel I changed my mind on it wanted my money back wouldn't take it within their 24 month warranty period saying it was rattling when they sold it like that. Everytime I go in they are casually chatting amongst each other, ignoring customers physical watched them doing this on multiple occasions, I have been shopping here for over decade spent loads of money of the years. I won't be coming back ever again to sell or to buy! Suggest clean up your act and get some proper training!
